IT IS THOUGHT THAT MANY ARE ALIVE IN MIDVALLEY MINE AND WILL. DO MUCH TO EFFECT OWN RESCUE.
Shaniokin, Pa,. Ftb. 18. 15 y a rush
of hue dirt and coal, 2S-men were entombed yesterday in the Midvt.1 leyNo. 1 mine on the mountain near ihis city. Last night and today a forcj of 100 meir was at work of rescue, but it seemed hopeless. The Work of Rescue. The colliery officials, Messrs. T. E. Snyder, general superintendent; Thos. M. Righter, vice president of the company and an expert raining engineer and the mine inspectors, were summoned and messengers were sent through the mine calling all miners and laborers to the work of rescue. Wagon load after wagon load of debris was taken to the surface hut the enormity of the rush exceeded the most skeptical prognostication of the officials, and engineers were summoned. Encouraging Sounds. Last night the rescuers were encouraged by sounds of digging on the inside. Later a shot was heard, indicating that the men are actively at work to effect their own rescue, and that the air inside is jjood. Among the men entombed are a number of experienced miners, and it is believed that It will be. possible to effect the rescue of all of them unless some have met death by being smothered in the rush of earth. Seven of the number
are Americans. The others are foreigners.
Cause of the Disaster. The men had been employed in the drift driving a heading to the surface. The heavy rains and thaw of the last few days had caused a great deal of
water to accumulate in the drift, and the pressure became so heavy that it finally gave way, and a sea of mud flowed into the gangway where the men were at work. It filled the gangway for a distance of about 3."0 feet, and it will be necessary to dig through this barrier to get at the workmen from this particular position. Three different rescuing parties have been put to work. It is hoped to be able to get the men out by tomorrow.

Making a Will
It is cheaper for your estate for you to make a will and appoint an executor than it is for the court -to appoint an administrator. You should appoint tthe RICHMOND TRUST COMPANY your executor because it la financially responsible. It Is better to have a corporation than an Individual for an executor because a corporation has a continuous existence and has the benefit of experience. The RICHMOND TRUST COMPANY will safely keep without charge all wills In which it is named as -xecu-ior.
