Ah if there were not already enough excuses for public dinners in the many political organizations, social clubs, mate, secret and military societies, college fraternities, and what not, we now have a club of Thaw jurors to renew at a yearly fea.sf. the. associations formed at the two trials of the man who Killed Stanford White. This is but a beginning of the possibilities by way of Thaw clubs. What is to hinder the jurors who wer" rejected from getting together for an annual feed? The literary coloriats. Including; the Sob Squad, would nearly fill a bis banquet hall; they "did the fctory" Jong enough to be bound together by lasting !ie. Seldom have the many lawyers for the defense iigreed on a policy, but while they forever squabbled over procedure they ail could be united on the common ground of a public dinner. Another association might he formed of the favored tribe who ot in to bear the testimony, while a still larger club would enroll all who did not have enough "pull" to get into the courtroom. There were only two trial judges but an army of alleni-sts, who can join in spending part of their fees at a banquet. What is the matter with consolidating the numerous host that eaw the crime committed? These would not interfere with a senarate organization of lay witnesses or a distinct union of those who went to Hchool with Harry1 Thaw. Kven the keepers of the Tombs and Tiiaw's fellow prisoners there could arrange for an annual gathering. Nor should the Thaw Waiters' Association be left out of the category. Of course it would be jocular to suggest that a society might be formed to consist exclusively of those who predicted that the Pittsburger would come to no good end.
But by permission of the state authorities there might be a yearly banquet of the Harry K. Thaw Association of Fellow Inmates at Matteawan. Xew York Press.

The only wheat food that is perfectly cooked a pretty strong claim, is it not? Steam-cooked for six hours then thoroughly cured then baked at 400 degrees. It requires 96 hours to turn wheat into MaplFlake. Yet flaked food can be made in from 18 to 20 hours. Let us tell you what a difference that makes in the food. k Wheat is composed largely of starch. Starch, to be digestible, must be made soluble. The particles must be separated, so the digestive juices can get to them. You cannot digest raw starch. The only way to break up the granules of starch Ia to apply a tierce heat, and for long. That is why wheat is flaked to get it so thin that the heat goes through. In baking bread, the inside of the loaf never gets heat enough. That is why bread doesn't all digest. That is why more will digest when it's toasted. The more starch you break up by heat, the more food you will get. But no form of wheat food save Mapl-FIakc is so cooked that all of the wheat becomes digestible.

It has been observed that fish caught on the southern banks just before the migration begins and those caught in the northern waters after it : is completed have sand in their storu- ' achs and that the sand is discharged
after the arrival of the fish at the southern banks on the return migration. In proof of this it is stated that the sand found in the fish often differs in color and quality from that of the bottom where they are caught. Washington Tost.

The name is commonly ex plained as an old Peruvian word for snow, the allusion being 1o the Andes But Chili" has also been identified as a native South American word, 'chili," meaning cold, which would make it really the "chilly" country. As to the meaning of "Andes," there is plenty cf choice. The word has been variously interpreted as signifying the haunt of the tapir, the region of copper, the home of the Auti tribe and the site of the "Andenes," Spanish gardens on the mountain terraces.
