HUE HUNDRED AND EIGHT! DELEGATES
Facts Concerning the Great National Republican Convention.
AN INTERESTING FIGHT.
THE MAN ON WHOM FALLS THE LAUREL WREATH MUST HAVE AT LEAST 491 VOTES FROM DELEGATES IN CONVENTION.
Washington, Feb. S The Republican national convention will nieit in Chicago four months from the 1 tit h of this month. What may be called the opf-n Sanson for the t-ftlectlon of rif-Ie-gate-s is now on. Under the convention call delegates niu.st be elected not earlier than thirty days after the date of the call and not later than thirty days before the date fixed for the meeting of the convention. So the rkltjfraie? must be all named before May 16. The party organization is up and doing everywhere, and the prospect, is that most of the delegates will bo chosen by the middle of April. Many of ihem will be named this month, and still more next month. As the politicians are wont to say, "It. is certainly a beautiful fight as it stands." How Delegates Are Distributed. The convention in to he made uu of 9S0 delegates, distributed among the states as follows: Alabama -- Arkansas 1 California 20 Colorado 10 Connecticut 11 Delaware Florida I'1 Georgia -! Idaho Illinois "1 Indiana Iowa '-''

Representation Reduced. J The last convention of the party was composed of 984 delegates, but the na-! tional committee, at its meeting in De-i cerater, reduced the representation of the territories and Hie Disirict of Co-' 1 iimb; a front si. delegates to two rile-! j;ates. Oklahoma comes in with four- i teen de'epatts. and these changes fix! the total ren resent at ion at 9S0. Not-1 withstanding th action nf rho committee the territories are planning to elect six delegates each and to appeal to the convention to admit them. Of course, the convv ntion might overrule the committee, but it is not likely to do it. The man who is nominated must receive at least 191 votes. About the only thing of which any one is certain today is that Charles W. Fairbanks will have thirty votes from Indiana, William H. Taft most of the forty-six votes from Ohio, Joseph G. Cannon the fifty-four votes from Illinois, Robert M. La FoTiette the twenty-six votes from Wisconsin, Philander C. Knox the sixty-eight votes from Pennsylvania, and Charles E. Hughes the seventy-eight votes from New York.
Simpson's Compound strikes at the very root of the evil in cases of Catarrh, Scrofula, Rheumatism, and Erysip- I elas, Old Sores, Boils or Ulcers, Pimples, Blotches, and any Disease or Eruption of the Skin. Scald Head, Salt Rheum, Tetter. Long standing Diseases of the Liver, and , Blood Poisons of all kinds. Driving: to the surface, and prisons off through natural courses, every atom of the poison, and at the same time its tine tonic effect increases the appetite, strengthens and rebuilds ihe entire system. Simpson's Compound should be taken by all who are sufterin ; from a bilious condition, with loss of appetite, and generally mn down: very often a few doses only are sufficient to relieve. Many hundreds of testimoa'als are on file, testifying to these truths, among which are the following: Westbrook. Maine. Dec. 4th. 107. Gentlemen: I covered the state of Indiana, and western part of Ohio two years ago as a traveling salesman Stopped at Indianapolis two months, while there my wife had the catarrh so badly that her throat was a raw sore. She was treated by one of the 1 -ading physician of the city, but received no benefit. I changed my headquarters to Marion; we learned of persons there who had been cared, that wore in sis bad condition as she, by taking your Vegetable Compound. I went to a drug store at once, and s. 'Cured a bottle; she received so much benefit from that one bottle that I then bought a dozen. Before she had taken ail of it her throat was well, and she feP no effects of catarrh, or rheumatism. She suffered a great deal with rheumatism before that. Gratefully yours. J. C. LANE, No. 20 Stevens Avenue. Westbrook, Maine.. Holioway, Mich. Dr. A. li. Simpson Co. Gentlemen: I take this opportunity to thank you for what your medicine has done for me. I am thirty years old and have always had catarrh. For the past five years have had liver trouble in connection with and as a result of catarrh. I tried all the doctors and every patent medicine under the sun. I went to the Pacific Coast, but found no relief until I tried your medicine. If you can put a value on a man's life that is what it has been worth to me. One of my neighbors Mas in the same condition, the doctors said lie could not live. I urged him to try your medicine; he did so and was soon out of bed and to work. 1 can recommend it to the public as a Life Saver, and a Health Giver. I consider it far greater than riches. Very sincerely yours, ART HlT It J. PALM Kit, 11. F. D., No. 1.
