Sixty years ago Prussia, the largest country in the German empire, was in tue throes or a revolution because the people wanted more political free num. j uat revolution spreau over nearly all Europe and the people of many Kuropean countries gained greater political liberties. In Prussia the revolution failed, only to break forth again after smouldering more than eixty years in the great disturbiincca now rife in Berlin. The people of Prussia are demanding that they be Riven universal manhood suffrage and a eecret ballot. The Prussian government may .succeed this time as it did over half a century ago, in withholding from the people by force, what they justly demand. Hut to do so, Blmply prolongs but slightly the inev itable, for universal manhood suffrage nd the secret ballot are the handmaidens of greater political and pereonal freedom and the great mass of people ot all countries that have not obtained them are more and more demanding them, even as the Prussians Sire now. And repressive measures, tho present ruling class in Prussia will find, will act upon the people as Oil fed to a burning building. Mr. Bweeney says: "What, then, is the duty of every true sportsman, ' every lover of little Bob and the remnant of his family which have escaped the deadly aim of hte gunV It is to at once go forth, 3orate the bevies of birds that are left and provide shelter for them where they may find protection from the elements when tho storms and chilling blasts do come. This is not all. He should be ready as soon as the storm makes Its appearanco to go to these shelters and distribute grain in ample quantities, and every fe wdays until the storm subsides and the temperature moderates, repeat tho operation, and thu save hundreds of birds which will surely perish if not protected and fed. The work of providing shelter for the birds should not be left until the heary enow comes, for then it may be too late. Do it now, and let the little fellows learn where they can tind protection when it is needed. Her majesty Queen Alexandria has lately conceived a great liking for fencing, and is taking lessons from one of tie best-known fencing masters in th country, 6ays Tit-Bits. S, BOWMAN, TWO WAYNE COUNTY TRUSTEES, ARE ACTIVE IN THE SESSIONS. TIjo Indiana township trustees who are attending their seventeenth rrnual meeting in Indianapolis hive come with the conviction burning deep in them that, their services aro worth more than $2 per diem to their townships. Probably tiie principal fruits of tho trustees' meeting this year will be :i lobby that in the next legislature will again urge an increase of their pr-y from $2 to $M a da', and will also again urge a change in the laws that will permit relection i' township trustees. Roth of these bills were pushed by their lobby before the legislature last year and were bowled out. Tho trus j tees will also probably make another! effort for tho enactment of the Wood bill, legalizing the acts of township j trustees when approved by advisory boards and when made in good faUh ' and in the absence of evidences ot fraud or collusion. Some Think Bill Became Law, In delivering the president's annual J address. President C. C. Miller tin ' nounced that some legal authorities have advanced tho opinion that the bill passed by the legislature and presented to Governor Hauly is a law.; though it seems to have been lost in the closing days of the session and does not appear in the printed statu ; tes. It is contended that Governor; Manly did not. sign the bill, and thnt it j became a law without his signature, j This contention has been raised in a suit in Montgomery county, whero i trustee is now being prosecuted. President Miller favors the trustees raising a fund to investigate this matter thoroughly, and, if necessary, carryit to the supreme court. Either this will be done or the bill will again be brought by the trustees' lobby before toe legislature In his speech Presi-' dent Miller called attention to the fact ! that one of the men who led the fieht asrainst this bill has since been coa- ; victed of embezzlement.
