HEALTH RULES WERE WRITTEN BY DR. J. N. HURTY ON SUGGESTION OF DR. CHARLES MARVEL, HEALTH OFFICER. To County Superintendent Charles Jordan falls the honor and distinction of inaugurating the scheme of attaching to county superintendents' manuals, issued each year, instructions to the health of children. Low it may be aided and cared for, and evil conditions rectified. Supt. Jordan recently prepared hi& manual, giving full details of the Wayne county schools. Jordan thought of the "health department." and asked Dr. Charles Marvel to write something for the manual, through which teachers could profit, in caring for their schools, and the children placed under Superintendent Jordan has received from Dr. Hurty. instructions to teach ers on general health lines. He advocates fresh air In the school rooms, and still further, baths for the children. He says unwashed ' " ''en are responsible for much of the ;agion, and danger of disease among school attendants. Dr. Hurty also gives instructions to the teachers as to how the eyes, the ears and throat should be cared for. He speaks of the proper care of sick children, and of preveution and care for contagious diseases, particularly diphtheria and scarlet fever. Dr. Hurty's instructions are very comprehensive and Supt.
