FIRE CAUSES LOSS OF PROBABLY 1550 Two Barns Were Burned on South Seventh Street on Monday Afternoon.

A HOME TELEPHONE COMPANY CABLE WAS BURNED IN TWO AND 25 PHONES WERE TEMPORARILY OUT OF USE.

A fire of unknown origin broke out in the barn by John Kcmncr on South Seventeenth street i.ionday afternoon about 4:1." o'clock and before the firemen had checked the flames, they had communicated themselves to a neighboring barn owned by Fred Bessleman. and did a total damage to the amount, of about .". The fire created great excitement in the neighborhood, as the barns burned fiercely for almost, an hour. Ralph Reynolds, an employe of Hac-kman & Klefoih. was in the company's coal yards near the Kemper barn and which is occupied by Hackman Klefoth. when he heard a fierce crackling. Thing that .someone was in the barn he investigated and found the fire burning fiercely in the hay mow. Fire alarms were sent, to all four hose houses and they respended. The fire burned a Home telephone cable in two, which put about twentvfive phones on the South Side out of commission. This was repaired Monday night.
