FLETCHER WRITES LETTER. WINCHESTER DETECTIVE IS BUSY AND IS SEEKING INFORMATION REGARDING AN ANIMAL STOLEN NOV. 13TH. J. M. Fletcher, detective at Winchester, writes the Palladium as follows: There Is a gang of horse thieves working in Indiana, Illinois and Ohio, and it seems almost impossible to apprehend them. They have stolen a number of horses from this and adjoining counties and despite all the efforts of the officers to capture them they are still operating. Mr. Fletcher also encloses a card, In part as follows: STOLEN! From John Wolf, three miles west of Winchester, Indiana, on November 13, a dark bay mare, four years old, sixteen hands high, weight about 1400, small star on the face, right hind foot white up to or a little above pastern joint, on the inside of the right ankle has small lump, and on the outside of same foot a small scar; shod all around and mare is high spirited. Also, an Anderson (Ind.) buggy, red running gear, rubber tire, plush robe, green 011 one side and black on the other; three sets of single harness, one set nicleplated with water hook broken off; one imitation rubber set, while the other was a common set of harness. $73 reward of return of horse and rig and $23 reward for capture and conviction of thief. Thomas F. Ryan was talking about music. "I like music," he said, "except such native and special sorts as the tom-tom. the bagpipes or the Indian hufaa give off. Did you ever notice how a piper prances up and down as he pipes? He never sits, he never stands still, but up and down, round and round, to and fro. he struts continually. A little boy listening to the wierd skirl of the bagpipes of a street performer, once said to his father: 'Father why does the piper keep ou the move all the time he plays?" 'I can't say, my boy.' the father answered, 'unless it is to prevent any one from getting the range with a cobblestone." The library of John Burns. M. P.. fills three small rooms. As a boy he sacrificed himself to collect books. In the farms of Norway during the planting and harvesting time more women than men are seen in the fields.
