ROLL OF $1,100 TAKEN FROM ITS HIDING PLACE.

The Thief Has Made Good His Escape and There Is No Likelihood That He Will Ever Be Captured. New Castle, Ind., Nov. 19. A tticft of $1,100 was perpetrated at the homo of James A. Dawson and family on Bouth Nineteenth street, Friday night but was not discovered nor reported to the police until a considerable time later. At tuu time the theft, was discovered, the prolonged absence of Harrison Williams, a boarder, was explained to the entire satisfaction of every one. Williams hoarded in the Dawson home, but he left Friday evening very unexpectedly and his going und disappearance of the money are connected. He did not even leave enough of the cash to pay his board. Mr. Dawson was the owner of some real estate In a neighboring county, Tvhlch had been on the market for gome time. The first of last week a deal was consummated and eleven $100 bills were mailed to Dawson in a registered package. Thinking that he might wish to reinvest the money and fearing to deposit it in a bank, Dawpon put the money in a sock and carefully hid it In the bottom of a trunk. Had he deposited the money in either one of the banks he would now have his money and it would be in circulation and $1,100 in cash just now would have a very good local effect. The money is in circulation all light, in a distant territory and neither Dawson nor the local banks will derive any benefit therefrom. The theft was committed early Fri Health Depends on Vour Stomach You might have an excellent heart, excellent lungs, excellent kidneys, but if you have a weak stomach you will never be in perfect health . dav evening. William!? had the house e i to himself for a time, Dawson was up town and his wife was at the home of a neighbor for a few minutes. When she returned Williams was gone. She thought, this strange but expected hint to return. Saturday came and went, but Williams still failed to materialize. Saturday evening a hatchet was found near the trunk. A close examination showed the broken lock and a careful search of the trunk and contents showed only too plainly that the thief had been thee first. Dawson came to the city immediately and reported the matter to Marshal Mogul but he stated that he had no idea where the thief had gone. Start winter in a healthy condition, be free from disease. Franois Macmillen, the American violinist, seems to have startled all London during the present social seaj son by his marvelous dexterity with the bow and the fiddle. In addition he created a sensation by playing in a darkened hall, the only light in the ; house being focused on the player as critics almost to a man, applauded the plan, declaring that it added much to the enjoyment of the concert in that the attention of the entire audience was for the whole time riveted on the artist. Macmillen plays at the Gennett theater next Monday evening. Vaudeville at the Phillips. A musical program is being pre sented at the New Phillips vaudeville' theatre this week, and it is very pleasing. In each act there is a song, 1 if not a dance, and that Richmond people like music was evidenced by the continued applause, Monday night. Cole and Coleman demonstratNOV. 2

ing their right to the claim of musical entertainers. Cole, with his musical abilities, adds spice to the act by a little comedy, which is pleasing and this team received the plaudits of the large audiences which witnessed the opening of the bill. Eddie Gardner, hat juggler, is good. Julian and Price, in a comedy song and dancing act. soon wins a place in the hearts of the audience. Both are expert dancers

The moving pictures, "Transformation" and "The Antics of the Messengers" are among the best that have been shown at the New Phillips this fall. The bill from beginning to end is strong and record breaking crowds are expected during the week. There will be a pie eating contest Friday night, replacing the amateur contest. Wednesday the usual mati nee for ladies will be given and on Saturday for children. "A Jolly Man's Troubles." The Davenport, Iowa, Republican, has this to say concerning the play to lie at the Gennett Thursday. Nov. 21, matinee and night: "A Jolly Man's Troubles" interested more than a few at the Burtis last evening. In many ; respects the plot was considerably in . advance of the average comedy and the singing was of a superior quality. The troubles of a jolly man presented a comical side which was refreshing in the extreme, when it is taken into consideration that nothing has yet been presented in this respect of a higher kind. ftETHlM CTT T Ul
