Members of the Richmond cily council and members of the board of trustees of Reld Mec'0.-i:u hospital held a conference Wednesday renins to consider the plans for a contagious disease hospital where all confusions disease cases, other thai, smallpox, can be cared for. This hospital will be built on the hospital grounds just a few yards :o tiia cast of i.;e main hospital buildi ig. John L. Rupe, i rsi lcn: of the- hospital board cf trustee:", stated this morning that the trusteoi invited the members of me city council to inspect the plans for tho contagious disease hospital becius.r, 'ike tne hospital proper, it will be a public institution and a part of the monev appropriated by council recently for the maintainence of the Reid hospital next year will be usad to meet the expense of building this- -iow institution. Mr. Rupe stated that t)u- nins fo- the contagious disease hospital met with the approval of ail the c.-uincilemn and that it was probiblo the v. oik of constructing this building would lie started this winter. Not Entirely New. The contagious disease hospital will not be an entirely new buildlnc T the east of the main hospital is a stone building of two stories, including the basement, he entire interior of this butldinar will be torn out. The south wall wi! also b torn down and the east and west walls extended twelve feet to the south. The new so'-th well 'ill be nn'de of cement.
When completed the building will be rw they can
large enough to accommodate conveniently twelve patients. The building will be heated by the steam heating plant which is located in the main hospital building. Tah estimated cost for the reconstruction of this building! is placed at $4,000. A contagious disease hospital is something this city has always been in need of. The hospital authorities do not like to have a contagious disease case cared for at the Reid hospi- j tal because of the danger of having i the other patients at the hospital ex-' posed to it. When the new institution is completed smallpox cases will continue to be cared for as now, at the detention hospital in West Richmond, j Severe cases cf scarlet fever, dipiheria and other contagious diseases of a like nature will be cared for at the
new institution.
By Her Own Efforts Amasses a Fortune. Indiana is the home of a woman who until a few months ago lived in a small frame cottage, but who now resides in her own palatial, brownstone residence, purchased from the profits of her business earned m less than a , year. j Until a few years pro Mrs. Miller's lot in life was not un'.ike that of the average American woman residing in a small town. She had her familv to care for, including throe small children. Today the business, which was first conducted from her cottage, re-! quires almost all of the principal office ' building of the town, and a hundred clerks and stenographers are required in conducting the details. And this great success is the out- j growth of energy and merit and not j wealth, for Mrs. Miller was a poor wo-1 man only a few years ago. Her op-j portunity came shortly after her mar-! riage when she found a simple home ! remedy for women which restored her j health and strength. This remedy was so good in the treatment of all j cases of female .weakness and pil?s I that she was called upon to furnish it j to her friends. The demand grew.
Persons living at a distance heard of the wonderful vegetable treatment and requests by mall for the remedy increased so rapidly that she was compelled to take quartets in an ofhec
build'ng down town. The fame of the remedy has spread rapidly, and now it is doubtful if there is a county in all this country where grateful am! cured users of the treatment do not reside. Slie has sent her remedy, :rei of charge, to more than a million women. Such a great demand and .-uc-h universal reputation must surely ie the result of many cures. In fact, the treatment seldom fails to affect a quick and permanent cure. This year Mr;. Miller has. planned to give away to women who have not yet used her remedy, 50,000 boxes of her regular f0 cent size of treatment. All she asks is that every woman suffering from female weakness or piles, write her at once giving full name and address, and she will immediately mail a " cent box of the remedy: also her book with explanatory illustrations showing why women suffer and
s'ly cue themselves
at home without the aid of a physician. If you suffer in any manner from these affliction' send at once. Address Mrs. Cora R. Miller, l'.ox fHil2, Kokomo, Indiana.

Greig was not a pattern school boy. In a description of his days at school he wrote: "Knowing that by arriving late at school I should not be allowed to enter the class until the end of the first lesson, I used to stand under a dripping roof until I was soaked to the skin. The master then sent me home to change my clothes, but the distance being long that was equivalent to giving me a dispensation. You may guess that I played this prank pretty often, but when at last I carried it so far as to come one day wet through, though it hardly rained at all, they became suspicious and kept a lookout. One fine day I was caught and made an intimate acquaintance with the birch."

Governor Andrew Harris, of Ohio, vlll not address the Commercial club, or Secretary Haas has just received a communication from S. J. Flickinger, his private secretary, stating that the governor has more engagements than he can fill during the winter, and particularly before the holidays. After that time the Ohio state legislature I meets, and this will occupy much of j his time until May. Secretary Haaa regrets very much that he was not able to secure the services of the pictur- . esque governor of Ohio. He is one ; of the moat interesting men in this sec

If some of the stories told about the
servant girls in California be true t j may well be rcgardec as the young
woman's paradise, says the London 1
Chronicle. A girl went to Los Angeles from England to cook and do general housework in a small family for ?35 a month. Going from a relative's house in San Fernando valley to begin her duties for the first time she had to walk a half mile to the trolley cars. A rancher came along in his buggy and asked her to ride. Before ithe trolley cars were reached the rancher had proposed and instead of going to work, the girl went to the i parson and was married. She now ! milks five cows daily, cooks three , meals, irrigates the garden and does
not regret the quick courtship.
