It now seenii that the merchants of Richmond will not all favor the esiablishhment of the parcels post system as devised by Postmaster General Von i Meyer. Some time atro Postmaster J. A. Spekenhier turned an address of the postmaster general into the hands of Commercial club men, that; they might consider the proposition and voice their sentiments on it as a

whole and also its various pauses.

A tew merchants of Kiehniond a

inclined to think the larue mail nrd

houses of the country are behind the

move and notwithstanding the explanation tbsst the new system as devised by Yon M'er will be worsa for the nutil order ho ist ;, many local merchants think the big conceras will find some way of si!e-ste'HiS the rulings if adouted by congress. As planned, local merchants would have the kdvuritn.uo of rural mail route delivery to the farmers of the county, at a very low rate five cents for each four pounds and two cents for each pound additional whereas the rate now is several times in excess of that. It would also be possible for a farmer on the rural route to send a double shovel plow to his neighbor bv the rural carrier, paying of course the regular postage rate. ' Some of the Objections. Those objecting to the new parcels post system, say the mail order nouses could send larger quantities than they are doing now, at a lower rate. The ruling of Von Meyer, however, slates specifically that where parcels post business i,s done outside of a local community, the old rate should be in vogue. This seems to be a slap at the mail order houses. Some local men say the mail order houses could 'ship their materials to Richmond, and by establishing a distributing point at this city could send t'aeir goods to the farmers on the various rural routes by parcels post. j A great majority, however, sanction i Von Meyer's plan as a whole, and

time. Well corked, it keeps indefinitely. Pinex is the nicst concentrated
