Tuesday afternoon a Pennsylvania freight engine jumped the track near Centerville and blocked traffic for eonie time. Practically no damage was done other than tearing up the tracks tor a few feet.

Figures Show Hoosier State Ahead of Missouri.
NATIONAL CONVENTION DAT
The latest report from national headquarters of the T. P. A., at St. Louis, shows Indiana still maintaining the lead over Missouri which was gained in the contest for the prize for tho largest increase in membership of State divisions. Indiana had C.136, which was sixty-two more than Missouri. The total for the United States was 36,490. The organization will ask Congress to reduce letter postage to 1 cent in the hope that the proposed parcels post law will be defeated. The national board of directors has set the week of June 22 for the national convention in Milwaukee next year.

Newspaper Boys to "Clean Up" on His Chickens.

Prosecutor and Mrs. Wilfred Jessup on Thursday evening of next week, will give a chicken supper for the members of the local staffs of the Palladium and Sun Telegram and the Evening Item. Some time ago Mr. Jessup promised the local pencil pushers this treat and they have been looking forward to it with much smacking of lips. All the scribes have assured Mr. and Mrs. Jessup that the five corn-fed fowls which will be massacred for the occasion will be reduced to a small collection of bare bones when the feast is over. Besides chicken, it is reliably stated that Mrs. Jessup is to add for a "chaser." browned sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, parsnips, about a gallon of gravy and other things too numerous to mention. Those who have been invited by Mr. and Mrs. Jessup to put a large dent in their larder are Edward Warfel, Roy Compton. Phillip Robbins and Willard Jessup of the Item; Charles Neal, Owen Kuhn, W. II. Pounstone and Raymond Wehrly of the Palladium and Sun-Telegram.
