HAVE CLUBBED THE
LIFE OUT OF HOME So Declares Evangelist Shannon in His Address at U. B. Revival. 'CLUB IS LITTLE NEEDED. OBSERVANCE OF ORDINANCES AND THE LIKE IS NOT SUFFICIENT TO SATISFY THE HUN3ER OF THE SOUL. Sunday was a good day at the U. B. church. There were seven additions to the Sunday school and the attendance at the preaching service was the beet since the revival began. Mr. rhannon will be assisted this week by Rev. Bilger of Ohio, who is a master music, both vocal and Instrumental. Mr. Shannon's theme Sunday night was "A Lap Full of Wild Gourds." He ftpoke in part as follows: This lesson shows us the picture of ft hungry crowd, willing foragers, who gathered from a wild vine a lap full of wild gourds and shred them Into the pot of pottage and poured out for the men to eat; but they could not eat of them. This is an age of fierce hunger 'end thirst. There is the hunger for 'wealth, for power, for position, for prestige. Many appetites that are perfectly proper are carried to sinful extremes. Humanity is built for a good time. The desire for pleasure is a proper desire; but we are seeking a good time where it can not be .found. There is the social hunger. We all hunger for companionship. Too great care cannot be exercised in the election of associates. When our fcoys and girls step out of our homes in Richmond where can they go and we feel perfectly safe? Our homes and churches should be so conducted as to furnish the necessary social benefits. If the homes and churches were as they should be there would surely be no use for clubs for boys, girls clubs, clubs for women and clubs for men. We have surely clubbed the life out of the , .home. Then there is the spiritual hunger, the soul hunger. This can never be satisfied until the bread and water of life is found. Church joining, observing ordinances and the like, will not satisfy the soul. They are inadequate. One must know the Lord a3 savior from the guilt, love and power of sin. Tonight Mr. Shannon gives the sixth in a 6eries of addresses on "The Ethics and Dynamics of Christianity." "What time will you be home tonight, dear?" queried the good wife ai her husband was starting downtown. "Oh. whenever I get ready." he answered crossly. "Well." rejoined the good wife quietly, "don't come any later than that please."-hieago News. C. C. t L. ticket agent will sell yc sleeping car tickets to Ckicago for their 11:15 P. M. train.
