1 IE VIOLATIONS OF LAW ABE STILL GOING ON Boxes on Rural Mail Routes Wrongly Used. FLETCHER CAUSED A STIR. Postmaster Spekenhier states that the carriers are still experiencing some trouble in having people place articles or merchandise in boxes on the rural routes, and as this is contrary to law, it is punishable by fine. Deliverymen and messengers from the city are frequently too lazy to go up a lane to the house, and just deposit the articles in the mail boxes. In each case the firm delivering the article is liable under the law. Mr. Spekenhier states that since Inspector Fletcher was here and levied several fines for postal violations, the rules of Uncle Sam are being more closely observed than ever before. The placing of private correspondence on other than first class matter has practically ceased. Don't think that piles can't be cured. Thousands of obstinate cases have been cured by Doan's Ointment. 50 cents at any drug store. A little boy in Los Angeles had earned a physical correction and it was given to him by his mother. After his punishment he was seen to go to his father's desk and write something on a sheet of paper. Then he went out Into the garden and dug a little hole and buried the paper in it. His mother after he had gone away, dug up the paper. It contained these words: "Dear devil please come and take mamma. ftuaucrtS OF ELECTRICITY! APPENDICITIS Now cured without an operation. Nothing but inclement weather will prevent a large number of Richmond people from attending the Preble county fair at Eaton this,- week. Monday night the Dayton & Western, in anticipation of the hundreds who will go, brought to the city five large cars. The cars are very commodious, being about the size of the regular interurbans, but built the same as city summer cars. The necessity of changing the motorman and conductor of every car as it enters the city over the Dayton & Western, will work great inconvenience to the company, especially during the last of the week, when the company will run cars every half hour. Open Evenings. WHO THREW A CIGAR STOMPJ THE BOX? Rigid Investigation Will Be Instituted. HAGERSTOWN FIRE ALARM. Hagerstown, Ind., Sept. 10. At six o'clock this morning the fire bell on the city building sounded a fire alarm and the citizens immediately responded to the call. When the first ones gathered at the scene of the fire, smoke was pouring from the second story windows, which was taken as an indication of a big fire. The fire was found to be on the floor of the council chamber, and a couple of buckets of water put it out. After the smoke had cleared away it was discovered that a pine box, filled with sawdust, which had done service as a cuspidor since "away back 'afo de war," and an innocent looking cigar stump had caused the blaze. The school board held a meeting in the council chamber last evening but whether any of thesa left the stub there, and if so which one, can only be determined by a most rigid official investigation. After a hurried examination it was found that the cuspidor was almost a total loss, and no member of the council could say at this time what action will be taken, whether the old cuspidor would be repaired and new sawdust placed therein or whether the remains would be sold to the fertilizer factory and a new cuspidor purchased. Should an appropriation be made for the purchase of a new "spittoon" it will be sufficiently large to enable the council to purchase one of the most up-to-date and modern reseptacles on the market. HOW IT SPREADS. The first package of Dr. Leonhardt's Hem-Roid (the infallible Pile cure) that was put out went to a small town in Nebraska. . It cured a case of Piles that was considered hopeless. The news spread, and the demand prompted Dr. J. S. Leonhardt, of Lincoln, Neb., the discoverer, to prepare it for general use. Now it is being sent to all parts of the world. It will cure any case of Piles. $1.00, with absolute guarantee. Leo H. Fihe, Richmond, or The Dr. Leonhardt Co., Niagara Falls, N. Y. HAGERSTOWN. IND. Hagerstown, Ind., Sept. 10.
