How Much Are You Worth?
If all your debts were paid, how much would you have 'left? I Perhaps the credit side would show up very poorly when you consider the large amount of money that has passed through your hands during your lifetime. A little of it saved regularly would have made a nice sum.

FISH STILL WITS TO ODSOME FIGHTING
Former President of the Illinois Central Remains On the War Path.
DIRECTORS MEET AGAIN.
WHEN THEY GET. TOGETHER AT AN EARLY DATE THEY WILL HEAR FROM THE PUGILISTIC MILLIONAIRE.
New York, Aug. SO. Stuyvesant Fish is still on the warpath against the Harahan-Harriman combination, which is now in control of the Illinois Central. His exciting fistic encounter with President J. T. Ilarahan at the board meeting on Wednesday seemed only to whet his appetite. He is waiting with more or less eagerness for the next meeting, which will be held in a week or ten days, and is ready to
meet all comers. "Do you know what the old man said to the cart wheel?" Mr. Fish asked when a reporter sought him out to talk fight. "He said you're over and gone. That's all I have to say about Mr. Harahan. "There is going to be another meeting In a week or so," he added significantly. "I don't know what tack they will take, but I'm ready for them." The big millionaire looked as if he was in shape to meet half a dozen of
the men with whom he is struggilng for control of the Illinois Central. His
new offices on the top floor of the Nat
ional Park Bank have not yet been fitted up and looked as though they
had been cleared for training quarters.
"Wasn't your strenuous action
against Harahan somewhat a departure from your usual methods?" was
asked. '
"There are some names I have nev
er permitted any one to call me," was
Mr. Fish's reply and the twinkle that had boen In his eyes turned to a blaze
In the Instant and he tugged fiercely at his blonde mustache. "There are
some remarks that a man can not stand, it matters not who makes
them."
Details of the fight in which Hara
han was so badly worsted Mr. Fish
would not supply. "I can say nothing about what happened in the board room," he said "It was an exciting meeting, as I had prophesied, but it Is over and there is another meeting to come. It is useless for me to deny that I was reading a resolution when the incident arose. I have been asked by several persons to make the resolution public, but I have decided not to give It out at this time."

The Medearis family held one of its most enjoyable reunions at Jackson's park Wednesday, Aug. 28. It was at
tended by almost a hundred relatives
and friend3. After a splendid picnic dinner a meeting was called to order, D. B. Medearis presiding. Remarks were made by Rev. McCarty, Fletcher Medearis, John Keys, Caleb King and others. Fletcher Medearis, who if permitted to live until Nov. 16, will celebrate his
ninety-eighth birthday, spoke in feeble tones expressing his gratitude at being able to be present and saying he hoped to be present on future occasions. The following officers were then elected: D. B. Medearis President. Jessie Medeari3 Secretary and Treasurer. The meeting adjourned to meet the fourth Wednesday in August, 1908. A brief history of the family follows: John Medearis was born about the year 176, Mary Pegram was born Nov. 28, 1S73. They were married in 1808. To this union were born six children namely: Fletcher, Charles, Emsley, Martha, Nancy and Jefferson. Mary Medearis with her children came to Indiana from North Carolina in 1S2S when it was yet a Territory and endured the hardships incident to early settling, the changing of dense and unbroken forests into fruitful farms and comfortable homes. Four children are still living, Fletcher aged 97, Martha Keys aged 91, Nancy Crooks aged 86, Jefferson aged 81, the others with the father having passed to the great reunion beyond, he dying in 1S23 at the age of 67 years. In 1875 Mary Medearis suggested a family reunion, the first
of which was held in September of
that year at the home of Thomas and
Nancy Crooks near Olive Hill, Ind
The annual gatherings occurred for a
number of years. One of these was a joint reunion of the Medearis-Chees-
man families and was held at the
church known as Kennedy's chapel
They were attended by children
grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of friends and each meeting
was held in tender memory until the greetings of the next. Grandmother Medearis was only privileged to at
tend two of these reunions. She died
on July 7, 1877, at the ripe old age of
93 years. Several years elapsed in
which there were no reunions, but on
August 11, 1905, the descendants of
John and Mary Medearis numbering
more than a hundred, gathered at
Jackson's park west of Centerville and spent the day in social enjoyment and partaking of a bountiful dinner
which was spread on a long table in the park. After all had done justice
to the repast a meeting was calle-I to
order and the reunions were made an
annual affair. On August 22, 1906, an
other reunion was held at Jackson's
park and wa3 attended by 125 relatives and friends.
The day was spent In greeting old friends and making new ones. After
a grand picnic dinner which all en
joyed to the fullest, a photograph was
taken of the assembly which included
Fletcher Medearis, John and Martha
Keys, Jefferson and Marilla Medearis,
the oldest members of the family,
Nancy Crooks being in poor health
was unable to attend.
with pleasures come sadness. On Feb. 2, 1906, Martha, wife of Israel Medearis passed from earth. She has
gone to reap a well earned reward
Since our last meeting death has
again entered our circle and on Jan 12, 1907 removed Uncle John Keys. J. II.

"There is one thing that appears to distinguish New York from most other cities of this country that I have visited," said a veteran traveler. "It's the way New Yorkers give the telephone numbers: Here in New York the number is given first before the name of the exchange. In every other city where I have used the telephone I have noticed t-iat they do just tlje reversealways call out the name of the exchange before the number. The telephone directories in these cities have it printed that way and the operators set the example. Now and then I hear some one say here 'Bryant JXTJO,' or something similar. I know its a safe bet that that person doesn't belong In New York. But I wonder what the reason is." New York Sun.
