Games Wednesday. Richmond at Van Wert. " Kokomo at Portland. Decatur at Dluffton. Van Wert, O., July 31. Richmond administered to us our third straight defeat yesterday afternoon In a well played and exciting game. Hay, late
of Dunkirk, was on the mound for the locals and the way the Quakers took to his delivery brought tears to the ryes of the faithful. George Morris, another ex-Dunkirk player, batted his old college chum to the four corners of the lot, making four hits, two of which were doubles. His play at short stop was the fastest seen here this summer. Young Conner served the dinks for the visitors and he proved to be a puzzle to the Van Wert batsmen. Conner was in splendid form and was given magnificent support, the Quaker Infield working like a clock. Rab
bit Rltter played a good game on the bases, scoring three runs. Every time the little fellow reached first the faithful bat of Morris sent him across the pan. Richmond copped a run in the first and in the third inning put the gai. on ice with their bats. Conner singled, Ritter drew his base on balls. Conner was then caught off his base. Cameron sacrificed Ritter and Morris scored him. Wiltermood reached base on a single and Meredith was given his base on balls. At this Juncture Minzler poled out a hot double, counting Morris and Wiltermood. Meredith tried to score on the same hit but was cut down at the pan. Pitcher Wentz has joined the Richmond team and will probably be sent into the box Thursday. Nearly four hundred people witnessed the game yesterday, which was the opening game of the league season here. Score:

According to the reports of the
game Tuesday at Van Wert, Conner was in wonderful form. Just a few
days ago the fans were slating the
big Dublin recruit in the "won't do
class. If Conner can continue to de
liver the goods like he did at Van
Wert he will be one of the most val
uable members of the team. All he needs is confidence in himself he
has the g6ods. Van Wert has released Right Field er McCann and First Baseman Mc Elwain. Both of these players phon

with McElwain. McCann is the play
er who about two or three weeks ago, when Richmond first played at Van Wert, made a home run, nearly causing himself, the spectators and his fellow players to cash in with heart failure. McCann previous to making
ithis blngle could not hit a collection
of rain drops with an umbrella. Decatur persists in hanging on to Richmond in the league race. The Admirals are due to drop as Bluffton will probably take them, while Richmond should win hands down from Van Wert. Portland has been strengthened by two good players. Catcher Harden, late of Hartford City, and Hurst, the hard hitting Frankfort outfielder. Kokomo has a fast bunch, which is due to hit its stride at any time. Manager Jessup figures that he will have to beat Kokomo and Portland for the pennant and he picks the former outfit as the most dangerous. Richmond is playing high grade ball at the present time. That peach infield continues to remain a stone wall while Ritter and Wiltermood are' getting away with everything coming to
them. Fleming is in a class by him
self as a pitcher. The team has
lot of pepper, is hitting the ball well and Tuesday the base running of the

Harry Hall Has Been Chosen
New Manager.
TWO GAMES SCHEDULED.
Dublin, Ind., July- 31. After many failures the Dublin base ball club has become a reality. The team has been
organized with a new manager and the strongest lineup of any amateur
ball team In this neck of the woods, Cambridge City not excepted. The
strong team of Dublinites has booked Haeerstow'n for August 4th. and the
strong Campbellstown club for Sun
day, August 11, at Campbellstown. The
team is composed of players in the Im
mediate vicinity of Dublin and is in
fact a Dublin team. Harry Hall has
been, elected manager and he would be
pleased to book games with any Indi
ana or western Ohio teams. The Dub
lin boys have to play all games away from home as they have no Sunday
grounds. Manager Hall is the left fielder of the Dublinites, who was so seriously injured early in the season.

BIG CROWD IS EXPECTED.
Cambridge City, Ind., July 31 The Grays will have for their opponents next Sunday the crack Glenwood team. The Glenwoods come to Cambridge City confident of taking a victory away with them as they have yet to lose a game this season. As the Glenwoods have not be-n seen here before, the writer is unable to say just what their ability is, but a team not having lost a game certainly must be a pretty fair bunch of ball tossers. If there should be no rain next Sunday it is thought there will be one of the largest crowds of the season out. The Grays have confidence in their ability to win and will work hard to
sustain their reputation.
