LITIGATION LIKELY OVER ASSESSMENT
Farmers in Union County Are Not Pleased With the Raise Ordered.
IS WORK OF STATE BOARD.
BOARD OF REVIEW DECIDED TO MAKE THE INCREASE JUST HALF OF WHAT STATE BOARD ASKED.
Eastern Indiana , and Western Ohio
Liberty, Ind., July 12. About the time the Union county board of equalization" had completed Its work for KM7, a question was presented which has become a lively issue with the taxpayers at large, but especially interesting the farmers of this county. Parks Jfartln. agent of the state tax commission, appeared before the board.
and presented the demand of the commission that the appraisement of real estate in Harrison, Center and Union townships be raised 20 per cent, and 1n Brownsville, Liberty and Harmony townships, 10 per cent. The assessors of the various townrhips had made their appraisement of
11 real estate in accordance with pre-
Mous instructions, but after considerable heated arguments with air. Martin, the board acceded to the demands of the commission, but later decided ' to raise the appraisement one-half the deSnand. In accordance with this decision, County Auditor Gardner has made up end forwarded his abstracts at a great deal of extra labor, as all the work of Changing the assessors' appraisement lias fallen on him. and it is more than iikely the state commission will refuse to accept the compromise. The order of the state board is bitterly opposed jfry the farming community and the lofcal board of review, and if the state board insists on the original order, it is more than probable the matter will be taken to court for decision.

Thursday nights, and "Dead wood Dick" for Friday and Saturday nights and Saturday matinee. Much interest is being taken in the Thaw trial motion pictures. Vaudeville at the Phillips. There will be a special matinee at the New Phillips tomorrow, designed especially for the children, as Saturday is deemed the most convenient day' for them to attend. Many women who are down town shopping on Saturday afternoon find it convenient to allow their children to attend the matlne at the New Phillips and call
for them at the close of the performance. While this week's bill is a pleasing one and has enjoyed a liberal patronage, the one promised by Manager Murray for next week will far eclipse it as he has secured a special feature that will arouse general interest. Detailed announcement In regard to this will be mado tomorrow. The usual double performance will bo given on Saturday night and in the "summer season, when many find it is not convenient to go to the early performance, the second one just meets the requirements. The New Phillips will remain open throughout the summer.
io FREE From Tartaric Acid or Afum
C
There are several brands of bad baking powder on the market. Look out for them! Some kinds have Cream of Tartar In them. Others have Tartaric Acid or Alum. All of these substances are corrosive poisons! Of course these bad baking" powders do not contain enough dangerous ingredients to kill anyone just enough to produce an irritating effect on the stomach and bowels. Bad baking powder is one of the Rreat causes of dyspepsia and nervous troubles. You can protect yourself from all danger and insure better baking results than you ever had before, by using the famous Egg Baking Powder. Egg Baking Powder is made from wheat phosphates and egg albumen.
The wheat phosphates which form the acid ingredient have both food value and tonic properties. On the other hand the Cream of Tartar and Tartaric Acid of some high priced baking Cowder or the Alum of low-price rands has no food value at all. After heat and moisture have been added, as in baking, this acid forms strong tnetal salts which arc highly injurious. Don't allow a grocer to sell you a baking powder that breeds dyspepsia! If it is free from Cream of Tartar, Tartaric Acid or Alum, the label will say sot Insist on pure, wholesome. Egg Baking Powder ifs safe. Not only healthful, but has wonderful leavening power. Injures best baking. All good grocers sell "Egg." Send us a postal for free copy of Thm Egg Cook Book.

The cpmpany is giving but two matinees a week, Wednesday and Saturday, and a large audience is exacted on Saturday afternoon of this week. For next week the management announces three new shows.
