BROTHER GETS CLAIM AHEAD OF CREDITORS
There Is Not Much Left of the Estate of Mike Lovvenstein, Muncie.
A LOCAL END TO STORY.
JOHN D. MARSHALL OF RICHMOND IS THE ADMINISTRATOR AND WAS ABOUT READY TO MAKE SETTLEMENT.
Muncie, Ind., Jure 28 Gus Lowenstein, of Chicago, was allowed a claim of $3,381.25 against the estate of Jiis brother, Mike L.oewenstein, whose death shortly followed the suspicious burning: of his clothing store in this city about two years ago, by Judge Xeffler yesterday. The proof of validity of the Chicago brother's claim will greatly reduce the allotted amounts to other creditors. The assets of the estate are approximately $4,200, and the creditors probably will receive 40 cents on the dollar. John D. Marshall, of Richmond, to whom the deceased Loewenstein assigned his business affairs, after his clothing store burned, was almost ready for a settlement with the many creditors when the Chicago brother marched into court with a claim. It was estimated at first that the validity of the claim would be contested, but Ioewenstein had papers to establish the authenticity of his claim. Nearly all of the assets were raised by Mr. Marshall through compromises with the many insurance companies against whom he had brought suits for the collection of Lowenstein policies. It is understood that Administrator Marshall will settle with the creditors at an. early date.

CHARLES BARNARD'S SERVICES ARE NOW IN DEMAND AT FAIRS AND CARNIVALS, MANY OFFERS COMING IN.
Hagerstown, Ind., June 2C By successfully making a balloon, ascension and daring fate by leaping earthward in a parachute when less- than a mile above the earth, Charles Barnard became reunited with his wife. It was Barnard's first ascension and an immense crowd attended to witness his expected destruction. It was his third attempt to make the rise, the
NEIGHBORS QUARREL OVER A JOIIT PUMP Mrs. Ed. McKay ' Appears jat Police Headquarters to Enter a Complaint.
CARRIED A LARGE ROCK.
CLAIMS IT IS THE WEAPON VITH WHICH ALFRED POTTS TOOK OCCASION TO STRIKE HER IN THE BACK.
Carrying a stone that would make a fitting corner for some new edifice, Mrs. Ed McKay, colored, appeared at the police headquarters today and made complaint against Alferd Potts, a twelve-year-old lad. also colored, who. Mrs. McKay said, struck her in the back with the rock, Inflicting a severe wound and giving her much pain. The Potts lad and Mrs. McKay live
previous ones having been prevented j in the socialistic settlement on Main by accidents after the balloon was in- J street near Sixteenth. There has
been bad blood between the two families for some time, the bone of contention over which the wrangling has been carried, being a pump which the two families use in common. It seems that when a member of the McKay family goes to the pump for water one of the Potts' gives him an, undesirable, siiower bath, while the same tactics are indulged in. by the McKays when a Potts goes after water. The prosecutor has been appealed to before in the matter, and after digesting the law in the case, instructed the tenants of the place to see Ed Moore, their landlord, about getting individual water supply. It has also been suggested that a meter be placed at the tenement house, making the aquatic tactics indulged in an expensive luxury. There is some doubt about the McKay-Potts stone throwing episode ever reaching court, on account of a report
which police headquarters has to the
flated. Late. in the evening the ropes were thrown off and the balloon rose rapidly. The air was still and after rising to a great height, almost directly over the spot from which he started Barnard realized that the gas would carry him no higher. A Perfect Ascension. Then he pulled the rope that held the parachute and dropped like a shot. The parachute opened perfectly and he floated slowly to the ground within a quarter of a mile from where he started. His wife, who had .witnesses the ascent with great foreboding, ran to him. and kissed him just as he reached the ground, and the two are again happy after a brief estrangement. Barnard is delighted with his experience. After reaching the ground a collection? was taken up for him and $r0 presented to him in addition to the purse previously made up by the business men. I
It was one of the most spectacular ! effect that the Potts family is moving and sensational ascents ever seen here 'to another part of the city. It is preand it was from here that John Bald- sumed that the Potts lad was getting win made some of his most daring sin the last word, figuratively speaking, trips to the upper air. (end if so, the police are willing to call Barnard has already received offers it a fitting finale. to make exhibition ascents at fairs and j carnivals and he has at last realized t
