SEVERAL TOASTS GIVEN.
A NUMBER OF HONORARY DEGREES, HUMOROUS IN THEIR NATURE, WERE CONFERRED BY MRS. CAROLINE MILES HILL.
The reunion of the class of TSS7 at Earlham college Monday was one of the most pleasant events of the commencement season. There were twenty graduates in '87 and of this number ten were present. Four are dead, and in memory to them a toast was Riven by John E. Parker of Eaton, Ohio. The remaining six who sent their regrets are in such distant parts of the country that they are unable to be in attendance. The reunion which was in the form of a dinner in the dining hall at the dormitory was arranged by Mrs. Caroline Miles Hill of Chicago, who came Saturday and is the guest of Mrs. M. F. Johnstor ""here were but three toasts accord' 'o the set program, but the after ;;:mer hour resolved itself into a series of most interesting and spontaneous reminiscences. Besides Mr. Parker, Attorney Wilson S. Doan of Indianapolis, responded to a toast and
Mrs. Hill conferred a number of hon orary degrees, humorous in their na ture. President and Mrs. Kelly and Mr. and Mrs. Allen Jay were at the dinner as guests of the class. SKIN DISEASES AND MEDICAL ETHICS
Mow Good Doctors Are Sometimes Mislead by Old Habits. Good doctors are sometimes misled by their prejudice or habits. Many condemn manufactured medicines, the good with the bad, seemingly forgetting that there are manufactured chemicals that eradicate disease in the surest way. And such doctors also forget that their own prescriptions are manufactured, too. when the druggist puts them up by hand. Think of the little difference between putting up a prescription in a drug store and putting it up in a large factory? Not all doctors are slaves of habit. Many have abandoned the treatment of skin diseases with internal remedies. With the recent discowery that pkin diseases are caused by a germ that works on the surface of the cuticle they prescribe that mild, soothing liquid of Dr. Decatur D. Dennis, known as D. D. D. Prescription," which destroys the germs quickly. These doctors no longer dosa the patient's stomach with nasty drugs or smear him with offensive salves. Credit is certainly due these doctors for sending their patients to the drug store for a remedy when they can make so much larger fees by writing out their own prescriptions. If you are suffering from eczema, rsoriasis, salt rheum, ringworm, dandruff, or any rash, get a bottle of D. D. D. Prescription and a cake of D. D. D. Soap and that awful itch will
disappear with the first few drops J-or sale by all druggists.
Mrs. Louis C. Meyer of New York, figures in a sensational case resulting from an automobile accident to her husband while he was out riding with another woman. Only upon his signing a written agreement
to have nothing to do with the other woman, was he forgiven by Mrs Meyer.
Sleep on a Hard Bed. No matter how comfortable a soft bed and large, soft pillows may be, they are not healthy. Women especially would do well to avoid them, for they assist materially in injuring the physical appearance. When the body sinks down in a soft bed a considerable po'rtion of the skin is robbed of proper ventilation, and circulation is interfered with. A hard bed will make the fle?b firm --- rrnceful.

Earlham College is content to rest on the laurels won last week by captain and pitcher White of the varsity
baseball team and his eight able assistants when they cleverly scalped the Jessup band of braves by a score of 4 to 2. The sting of this defeat still rankles in the breasts of the Richmond team and they were very anxious to get to the collegians in the game that was arranged last week between Manager Jessup and Coach Wilson, but Manager Jessup was notified that Earlham would not play off the game, no good reason for this action being given. - The locals will have nothing to do the fore part of this week, but loaf and indulge in afternoon practices. Manager Jessup was thrown down on his schedule for this week by the disbanding of the Hartford City team, with which outfit he had four games scheduled, two here and two in Hartford City. Jessup states that it is probable the fast New Madison team would appear here Friday of this week and that he had scheduled a game Saturday with the Lebanon team and a game Sunday with the Cincinnati Harlems. The latter team is made up of veteran players, several of " whom played on the All-Kentucky team that memorable day several years ago when they defeated the old Entre Nous team in a twenty-inning battle. The cement foundations of the grand stand at Athletic park have been made and the work of erecting the stand will now be hurried to completion. The original plans for the stand called for a seating capacity of 1,200 but it has been decided to erect at the present time only the middle section of the stand, which will have a seating capacity of 400. Later on if the attendance demands, the other two sections of the stand will be put up.
