IMPROVEMENT IS SHOWN. Under Favorable Weather Conditions Wheat Makes Satisfactory Progress. Cincinnati, O., May 31. The Price Current says: Weather conditions were somewhat more favorable for agricultural interests the last week. Winter wheat has made some improvement generally, and more progress is reported in the last week than for some time. More warmth is wanted in many localities. Improvement in the plant is quite notable in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois and Missouri. It is heading out in fome parts of the latter state. There has been further deterioration in the outlook in Kansas, owing to cold and dry weather. With the exception of Kansas the general promise for winter wheat appears to be better than on May 1, and the government report for the states in the central regions may bt expected to show some gain in percentage of condition on June 1 over the figures given as representing the condition on May 1. The oats crop Is making a fairly good start. Rains in Ohio and Iowa have been beneficial, especially in the latter state, where moisture was needed. Missouri reports indicate a good promise; Indiana and Illinois fairly rood. The outlook in Iowa would be improved by warmer weather. In Kansas the oats crop prospect is discouraging. A change to favorable weather may be helpful, but at this time under the protracted dry spell reports indicate expectations of a small crop in that state. Corn planting has made considerable progress the last week. Early planted is . up in some localities. There is still considerable planting to be done, and the crop generally if getting a late start. Some replanting t&m been done. There are scattering reports to worms injuring the corn snd preventing its coming up. Rains iu Iowa and elsewhere have been of benefit to the plantings. The hay crop outlook is fair generally, but irregular. Meadow lands as veil as pastures were improved by the rains of the week. Cincinnati. Cincinnati, May cattle strong. 51. Hogs active; CATTLE.
