WON BY THE SHILOHS Contest This Morning at Athletic Park ; Was Sprinkled With Enough Sensational Plays to Relieve It FISHER AND FLEMING . DO SOME GOOD STUNTS. Supposed to Be Pitchers, They Show the Boys How to Do A Little Fielding Horn Effective in the Box . . (BY TORT.) RichmondC5;" Shilohs 4.- 1 In a listless gaic", I sprinkled here and there with some sensational plays, llichmond. took the Dayton Shilohs'this morning to the chorus of 5 to 4. The score looks close but it wasn't The locals took the field with two pitchers in the lineup, Fisher at third base and Fleming in left field. Cunny was sent to the second corner on account of Justice being hors du combat (offered with apologies.) In the first game at Dunkirk, a careless baseman J slid into Mr. Justice's anatomy with ! the result that our reliable second base j guardian suffered a fractured slat and! had to be added to the .witch-hazel I squad. Fisher was "Circus Solly" in i the infield. Two hot poled ones he pulled from the ozone with one hand, j The second one he speared was converted into a double play, J. Cameron assisting. Mr. Fisher was inspired to this dare devil fielding by the work of his fellow slabsman. "Meadowbrook" Fleming, who also responds to the name of "Nervy Nat." Fleming took the first out in the game by a long running catch. - In the second he pulled down one from the clouds by leaping into the air and stabbing it with his bare fin. Richmond Scored First. Richmond scored in the first. Plummer batting Cameron over with a' double. Two hits, a soak in the slats for Mcnsler and two bases on balls resulted in two more runs in the third. Two hits scored another for the locals I, in the fifth, and the winninc: tally came in in the eighth as a result if Hitter's base on balls, followed by Cameron's stinging three bagger. It was not until the fifth that Dayton scored A poor throw to the plate on the part of Fleming allowed this i tally to trickle in. In the eighth;

BLUFFTON IS OUTBATTED. Portland Gathered in the Game by Close Score of 3 to 2. Bluffton, Ind., May SO. Although Portland outbatted Bluffton yesterday almost four to one, the fast playing of the locals at critical stages, kept the score down so that the victory went .o the visitors by the close margin of 2 to 1. Twice Portland was retired with bases full, and the extra run that' gave them the game resulted from a foul fly that went for a two-bagger. Pitcher Bray was a puzzle at all stages of the game to the Bluffton batsmen. - The score : R. H. E. Portland . 2 1 O O O O O O O 3 11 1 Bluffton . Only 27 batters faced Pitcher Biltz, of Hartford City, who permitted but three scatterey hits. Pitcher Lacey, of the visitors, who last year wore the Hartford City blue, allowed but five hits, but they were terrible drives from the bats of Guns, who got a three-base hit and Weber, who got two two-baggers and a single, Added to the hits were six errors on the parts of the visitors which netted a portion of the runs.
