Sell Regardless of A RIDDLED TEAM TO PACE AT ATHLETIC PARK (Continued from page one.) Jessup states that if Burns signs with the Quakers, Durham will never be missed. He is a hard hitter and a clever fielder. A Horse on Meredith. To add to the gloom in the local camp over Cameron's painful injury and Durham's desertion, Manager Jessup received a long distance telephone message from Billy Meredith at his home in Lynn to the effect that Saturday morning he had carelessly allowed a horse to fall on him and that his leg was in a bad shape, so bad, in fact that he would be unable to play Sunday. Meredith is a veterinary sur geon when not playing base ball. Man ager Jessup will try to secure Bambrough, the clever Portland third baseman to fill Meredith's shoes. The vacant outfield position will probably be filled today by Rodenbach, the big college pitcher. Batting Averages. In the five games played by the locals on their home grounds the team has batted at a .337 clip, which is a remarkably good showing. In everyone of the five games the batting has been hard and timely. Of the regulars Jim Cameron leads in stick work. The first baseman has an average of .400. Tom Plummer, the big right fielder, is close on Cameron's heels with an average of .364. Durham, who has just hurdled the locals and "who is quite impressed with his ability as a swattist, only averaged .227. The individual averages of the players are

WISSLER IS PLEASED WITH HISJNVESTMENT Likes Canada the Longer He Remains There. HAS 960 ACRES OF LAND. Cambridge City, Ind., May IS. B. F. Wissler, formerly owner and editor of the Richmond Sun-Telegram, now in Alberta, Canada, writes to a friend: "Tell my friends that I am more than pleased. I am convinced that we are in the very best part of all Alberta and Saskatchewan put together, with Manitoba thrown in for good measure. It is the verdict of all fair observers who have been over all this territory. A little nerve and a little money will do well here. I would not give Hoosier Vale Farm for the best in Wayne county as an investment." Mr. Wissler has about finished sowing 110 acres of oats and barley and will put in about 5K acres of fall wheat. He is managing a body of land comprising 1K'0 acres, which has been named "Hoosier Vale Farm." Nothing Is Lost.
