Pennies are worthy of your consideration. Many persons very foolishly cast them aside in scorn; these same people are usually the ones who are constantly in debt and need of money. If they could only be made to realize that the pennies, and the nickels, and the dimes, if saved, would mount into dollars and the dollars into a tidy fortune if they would understand and save, their financial trouble could be avoided. Think this over, and then open up an account drawing three per cent, compound interest at Richmond Trust Co.

You take no chances on any tool or piece of cutlery with the

Kite

stamp on it. They are as good as capital and brains can make them. If a Keen-Kutter article does not prove satisfactory, you simply bring it back and get another or get your money. That is as strong a guarantee as we know bow to give.

CIRCUS PLEASING TO TWO BIG CROWDS

Attendance Was Not as Large As Would Have Been With Warmer Weather. ANIMALS ARE ATTRACTIVE.

THERE IS NO DISGUISING THE FACT THAT MUCH DISAPPOINTMENT RESULTED FROM FAILURE TO HAVE A PARADE.

Owing to the cool weather Saturday the afternoon and evening performances of the Barnum and Bailey shows were not as largely attended as they

would otherwise have been. However the immense main tent did not present a vacant appearance by any means. There was a large number of country people in the city Saturday. About every livery bam in the city, numerous rural conveyances were anchored. The vacant lot at the corner of North Tenth and Main streets was crowded to capacity with farmers' vehicles. The circus, known for a half century as "the greatest show on earth," is by far the best tented attraction that has appeared in Richmond for years. The show is larger than ever and the acts are run off with the precision of clock, work. Every act is a feature and when the performance is over one leaves the tent with a headache from trying to watch four rings, a platform and numerous trapeze stunts at the same time. Animals Were Attractive. The animals in the exhibit tent were numerous and attracted much attention, especially the giraffes, animals seldom seen in captivity. There were three of these curious animal3 and the populace to get a glimpse at the heads of the beasts got kinks in their necks rubbering skyward. The big hippo was also a center of attraction. The monkey cage was a popular place with the young people.

The reckless female who rides the auto ic the "dip of death" sent many

chills chasing up and down the spines

of the audience by her dare devil act The ski jumpers were also novel fea

tures to the show. The usual number of gilt and silver spangled bareback riders of both sexes was on hand to

make the crowd realize that it was at

tending a regular American circus and

not an immense movable hippodrome.

People of this section will welcome Barnum and Bailey any time the big show desires to play an engagement here, but everyone hopes that the next

visit of the circus here a parade will be given. The American citizen will

never become reconciled to a circus

without a street parade.

Acting on the serious complaints made by a number of local fishermen, Deputy Game and Fish Commissioner Will Iliff is investigating the report

that the Richmond Light, Heat and Power company is turning its refuse

oil into the Whitewater river, thus

killing the fish by hundreds. Mr. Iliff

has spoken to Manager Lane of the gas

company, and it is sard that he has ex

pressed a willingness to comply with the law, which required that refuse oil be burned and not be allowed to pol

lute the streams. A few years ago a number of gran

jury indictments were returned against the company for the same offense. The late Will Roney, who was then manager of the gas company, kept his company from being prosecuted by a prom

ise to stop the pollution of the streara He kept his word and fishermen inter

ested say that they believe Manager Lane, who is now in charge, violated

the promise only through ignorance of

it having been made. Good Fishing Possible.

If the present trouble is rectified, as

it very likely will be, fishing in ths Whitewater and its tributaries should

be good this season. Already a num

ber of fine catches of bass have been made and channel cat are said to be plentiful. The running season this year, fishermen say was earlier than common. It is customary for the fish to come up stream in April during the warm freshets. There were no warm

freshets during the last ArtH, but fish.

ermen say that the fish took advantage

of the good running weather in March

and now in great abundance are wait

ing to be caught.

There is greater interest in fishing

in Wayne county this year than ever

before. There are six good fishing streams in Wayne county; namely the

east and west forks of Whitewater

river, Martindale creek, Greens Fork,

Nolans Fork and Simonds creek. Cf

a Sunday the first interurban car leav

ing Richmond for the west is monopo

lized by Richmond fishermen.
