INDIANA NOW LEADS ' NEWJfORK STATE Hoosier Enlistments in Army Are Most Satisfactory. LIEUT. POWER PROMOTED.

Sergeant Bard, in charge of the local recruiting office, has received iptice that tho quality of troops enlisted from Indiana 1 now surpasses that of New York, which has for so long been looked to for efficient men, surpassing all others. Indiana now holds the laurels. Three hundred and five enlistments were made from the Indiana district during the month of April, or ten more than was furnished by any other state In the union. Of these, 200 were re-enlistments which

speaks well for the treatment accorded the soldiers in the army. First Lieutenant Carroll Power, commanding officer of the recruiting !'striet of Indiana, has been promoted td" the position of captain, I". S.
