Pennies are worthy of your consideration. Many persons very foolishly cast them aside in scorn; these same people are usually the ones who are constantly in debt and need of money. If they could only be made to realize that the pennies, and the nickels, and the dimes, if saved, would mount into dollars and the dollars into a tidy fortune if they would understand and save, their financial trouble could be avoided. Think this over, and then open up an account drawing three per cent, compound interest at Richmond Trust Co.

Perhaps one of the most pointed and certainly the most enjoyable talks ever received by the boys, and girls, too, al
though the address was not as much
to them as to the boys, was that given
by Judge Willis Brown, Judge of the juvenile court of Salt Lake City, and founder of the American Anti-Cigarette
League, Tuesday afternoon, in the
high school chapel.
Judge Brown is a very enthusiastic
worker among the boys, and is classed
along with kludge Lindsey, of the Den
ver juvenile court as a worker among
the boys of the country. He believes
completely in putting a boy on his hon
or, and it is his boast that boys are never accompanied by officers when
they are sentenced by him to the de
tention home or the reform school. He quoted many instances of the manner
which he employs when dealing with the boy who is brought before him, and quoted one instance when the newspapers of Los Angeles were ready to declare that the boy had done something which had never been done before to
Judge Brown. He had gone back on him, or it was asserted that he would. And it seemed that the boy would, too, but when he found that he could not treat the judge square and stay out of the reform school, he "bummed" his way a distance of several hundred miles from Los Angeles' to Salt Lake City for the purpose of returning to the judge to be placed in the reform school. This Is only one example of the many in which Judge Brown's method of treating the boys has shown its worth and merit. Purpose Is Made Clear. Judge Brown also made the meaning of the juvenle courts and their purpose clear to the students. In addition to the . students of the school there
were some visitors present, including several ministers. Judge Brown was introduced by Secretary Brown, of the Y. M. C. A., or as Principal Ellabarger says, "Y. M. C. A." Brown. Secretary Brown stated that he could not claim any relationship to Judge Brown, except in the fact
that they were both working In the same cause, that of the welfare of the
boys of this country.
Judge Brown will have charge of
the boys camp at Winona, this summer, from July 26 to August 16, and ex
pressed it as his hope to see a crowd of Richmond boys there and have one
of them for the mayor of the miniature municipality which is to be formed there. Already plans are being made
by some of the boys to attend.

To accommodate the large number of young high school athletes, rooters and instructors of the schools which they represent, local high school and
Earlham college officials probably will appeal to the friends and patrons of the two institutions to allow this small host to be quartered in their homes the day of the big Indiana high school field and track meet, which will be held on Reid field a week from Saturday. It is thought there will be at least
two hundred visiting athletes repre
senting fifty or sixty high schools in all parts of the state and that there
will be at least that number of ou
of-town people who will attend th meet in the capacity of rooters. Thi
high school meet will be the biggest
athletic event of its liind ever held in eastern Indiana and it will attract
hundreds of spectators.
Owing to the large number of en
tries in each event the meet will re
quire an entire afternoon to be run off and the first evnt will be called
immediately after the noon hour. Al
the- dashes and runs will be pulled
off in heats, and there probably wi'
be three or four qualifying heats for each track event. Firsts and seconds in each qualifying heat will be elgible to compete - in the final heats.' Tents
will be erected around the track to
be used as dressing rooms for the ath
letes. Entries Due Friday.
Friday of this week is the date set
for receiving of entries to the meet
and Athletic Instructor Walter WiJ
son of Earlham college expects to be
flooded with mail. As soon as all the
entries have been received work will
be started on the official program
The best high school athletes in the state will attend the meet and the
crack field and track team of the In dianapolis manual training school
which recently made a sweeping vic
tory at the high school track and
field meet held by Indiana university will be on hand. It is confidently ex
pected that all field and track records
previously made at Reid field will be
shattered.
The local high school will be rep
resented by a good team, but not as
good as the one of last year and the
year before. R. H. S. has been hind
ered in its training by the unfavorable
weather. Local athletes expected to make a good showing but do not claim
that they will carry off the honors,
The track and field at Reid field will
be in splendid shape for the meet.

Showing why Lowe Bros. "High Standard is more economical to use than cheap paint. The average cost of cheap paint is about $1.25 per gallon. The greatest covering capacity is 225 square feet, two coats. If the paint for 225 square feet, two coats, costs $1.25, the cost for 100 square feet will be 56c. To cover 100 square feet two coats with Lowe Bros.' "H. S." would require 2-7 of a gallon at $1.60 per gallon, making net cost of paint 46c for 100 square feet or 10c less than cheap paint, saying nothing of the difference in the cost of labor.
