At the annual meeting of .he stockholders of the Richmond Natural Gas Co., held at the offices on North Eighth street Wednesday night, five directors were chosen and officers for the ensuing year elected. M. C. Henley, John Y. Crawford, Walter J. Hutton, Clem A. Gaar and E. G. Hibberd were chosen directors and the follow ing officers were elected: M. C. Henley president. John Y. Crawford, vice-president E. G. Hibberd secretary. Thomas A. Kinsey treasurer. The Richmond company is now engaged in drilling new wells which are expected to add to the natural gas pressure next year. Despite the announcement yesterday that his department is not run to make newspaper headlines, Attorney General Bonaparte delivered some yesterday. Admit ting his infatuation for a young woman of his congregation, although he has been married thirty years, the Rev. D. M. Carpenter has left his congregation. The girl is Delia Goodrich. H3 is 5o and she is 32. The fact that he loved her came to light when he mail ed a love letter in the wrong envelope to the recorder of marriages. He meant to send the latter a certificate of marriage he had performed. HIGH SCHOOL REPORT FOR THEPAST MONTH There Was a Loss in Number Of Students. 53 CASES OF TARDINESS. The high school report for the month beginning April 8 and ending May 3 has been made out by Princi pal D. R. Ellabarger, as follows General enrollment, 157 boys, 220 girls; total 377; term enrollment, 160 boys, 235 girls; total 395; a loss of 18 since the beginning of the term. Average daily attendance, 137 boys, 210 girls; total 347 Number not tardy 125 boys. 1S2 girls; total 307. Num ber not absent, 59 boys, 91 girls; total 150. Neither tardy- nor absent, 53 boys. SI girls; total 134. Number of days lost by sickness 211. There were 53 cases of tardiness among the boys, a loss of 4S4 minutes, and 55 among the girls, with a loss of 463 minutes. Use artificial gas for light and heat 10-tf AN INQUEST IS BEING HELD ON TRAKOWSKI. An inquest is being held on August Trakowski, the aged man arrested Monday for assault and battery on his wife. Trakowski sent for his pastor, the Rev. Conrad Huber. and had a consultation with him. The Rev. Huber is inclined to believe the man :s not insane. In case fhe inquest commission finds Trakowski sane, it is probable he will be tried on the charse for which he was arrested. TOMMY BURNS WON FROM JACK O'BRIEN. 110 CONTAGION IN THE ENTIRE CITY - Situation at Present Time an Unusual One.
THE CARDS ARE ALL DOWN. "Not one single case of contagion is to be found in Richmond." Such was the statement of City Sanitary Inspector George Young, to the Palladium and Sun-Telegram. The last measles card was taken down Tuesday, and since that date no contagion of any character has been reported at the local health office. The situation is a most unusual one in a city of Richmond's size, and it is the first time in several years that there has been absolutely no contagious diseases under the supervision of the health officers. For the past several months scarlet fever and measles have taken their turn at entertaining j the people, and there has not been a week but what several cases of such have been reported. LOSS QUARTER MILLION Fatal Fire at Kansas City on Wednesday. Kansas City, May 9. Fire here Wednesday afternoon destroyed the five-story university building at Locust and Ninth streets, causing a property loss estimated at a quarter of a million dollars. One Hie was lost, six persons are missing and may be buried in the ruins and fifteen persons were more or less seriously injured. RULES AGAINST TRUST Drug Combine Cannot Keep Black List Indianapolis, May 9 Judge Anderson in the federal court entered a perpetual injunction against the drug trust today in prosecution under the Sherman anti-trust law.
