Richmond was visited by quite a se
vere electrical storm Thursday night about 10 o'clock. A-severe rain storm accompanied the electrical display and considerable damage to property in various parts of town has been reported.
About 10 o'clock lightning struck a
brick chimney on the home of Mrs. I. R. McDivitt on Kinsey street, almost
leveling it with the roof and hurling
bricks in every direction. Mrs. McDivitt and others residing in the house
were greatly alarmed by the tearing down of the chimney. No other dam-
tge was done to the property. Lightning also put out the street amps and fie electric lights in the
homes which are in the vicinity of the McDivitt property. Shortly after this damage had been done by the lightning there was a perfect downpour of rain.
Trees In some parts of town were
struck by lightning, but the McDivitt home was the only one in the city
known to have been struck by light
ning. It is reported . that the wind and rain did considerable damage to the telephone, power and telegraph wires, but all have been repaired by this time and are now in operation.
