Oil CITY'S STREETS Plan of this Kind is Now Uncles Consideration by the Aik thorities. DO LITTLE AT THE JAII OWING TO THE EXPENSE THA. WOULD BE ATTACHED IT DOE' NOT SEEM PROBABLE WORK HOUSE CAN BE SECURED. It is very probable that this spring and summer the prisoners confined ai the county jail will be worked on the streets. No definite arrangements have yet been made, but if the plan is satisfactory to the city officials, it will be satisfactory to Sheriff Meredith. Throughout the winter the prisoners have been kept at work on the stone pile in the jail yard, but the work has not been satisfactory, owing to the fact that the men accomplish little. Thej leisurely hammer away at the stoii and the average amount of stone crack ed by one man at the end of each daj't work would not fill a small patch in a street. Should Do More Work. There is a steadily growing sentiment that the prisoners should do more work than they are now required to do. It is the general opinion that the men confined at the county jail have too easy a time and it was on account of this, general opinion that the grand jury last January recommended that a county workhouse be built. The county commissioners do not seem to be impressed with this plan, probably on account of the expense it would incur. Street work would be hard work and distasteful to all the men confined at the county jail, but working the prisoners on the streets would be a benefit to fhe city, so the plan is now being considered. Mandv Hives and other blotches are supposed to be caused by an acid stomach. A simple remedy and one that is very effective is Ifollister's Rocky Mountain Tea. 35 cents, Tea or Tablets. A. G. So cents, Tea or Tablets. A. G. Luken & Co. Use artificial gas for light and heat. 10-tf Lightning Killed th Fish. A peculiar result of a stroke of lightning was noted near Dijon. France, one summer. A flash of lightning was peen to strike a fish pond, and an investigation made imme'diately after the storm had subsided proved that every fish that-was in the little lake had been kilied. - This is one of the very few instances on record of lightning striking fresh water. CLEO CAMPLIN FINDS GOOD HOME AT LAST Boy Who Has Been in County Jail, Now on Farm. WITH CORNELIUS RATLIFF Cleo Camplin. the Cambridge City boy who was sent to the county jail after being bound over to the juvenile court by 'Squire Pritchard on a charge of stealing from hi? mother, has found a new home. As has been stat ed. Cornelius Ratliff called on the boylast Saturday and talked with him in connection with making his home with Mr. Ratliff. Satisfactory arrangements to this effect "Lave been made and young Camplin is now busy learning the dairy business. Sheriff Meredith states that after the article published in the Palladium last week telling the pitiful details of Cleo Camplin's life and the desire of the authorities to find him a new home, there were over fifty telephone calls from farmers in various parts of the county, offering to provide a home for th boy. i in Constipation People who have a tendency to constipation, or actually have chronic constipation, will give a good deal to know how to cure it. Yet the method is a simple one and not at all expensive. However, it is almost as important to know what cot to do as what to do. Do not attempt to core constipation by a sudden movement of the bowels secured through salts, purgative waters or cathartic pills or powders, because it can't be done in that way. One swallow does cot make a summer, and one movement of the bowels does not cure constipation. It may clean out the bowels and give momentary relief, but the bowels will soon re lapse to their old state of congestion ami you will have constipation of a more obstinate form than before, owing to reaction. By all odds the best way to cure constipation Is by the use of Dr. Caldwell's Syrup Pepmn In the dose suited to chronic constipation, and which is described in full on each bottle. In thia way the cure is brought about scientiQcally. and the result is permanent. It is a trestle but effective laxative, pleasant to the taste and so cure in results that every bottle Is guaranteed.
