PAVING IT IS PROPOSED.
NORTH THIRD AND NORTH D ARE ALSO MUCH IN NEED OF PERMANENT IMPROVEMENT REFERRED TO BOARD. At council meeting Monday evenin Councilman Englebert called' attention to the condition of North E street from the east line of Tenth street to the east line of North Sixteenth and mov ed that the board of public works con sider improving this part of North E by naviner with vitrified brick or paving block and the placing of new curbing and gutters and cement walk3 on both sides of the street. He also moved that the board consider the improving of Eighth street from North A to South A by paving and the placing of curbing, gutters and cement walks. Mr. Englebert stated that he realized these improvements could not be made without the consent of the affected property owners and that he made this motion for the purpose of bringing these property owners together, so that the quastion could be thoroughly discussed with the end in view of seeing what action could be taken. Mr. Englebert stated that he did not know of any streets in town, with the possible exception of North D street, which needed improvements worse than does North E and Eighth street. He stated that the parts of these streets he recommended paving were constantly used for heavy travel, being in the manufacturing and uptown parts of town, and that he thought the welfare of the city demands that these parts of the streets included in his motion be paved and otherwise improved. Other Streets Needy. Councilman Deuker moved that the board consider the improving by paving, glitters, curbs and cement walks of North Third and North D streets. These two streets, Mr. Deuker pointed out," were constantly used in hauling heavy truck to the C, C. & L. and the Panhandle freight stations and that at the present time they are badly in need of permanent repairs. He stated that the board has found opposition ! to the making of these improvements as they would entail considerable ex pense to the property owners but. he stated, the cost of making these im provements should be divided and the city assume half the cost. The city would be benefitted by such improvements and that, such being the case, he thought it no more than right that the city should share in the cost of such public benefits. The improvements suggested by Messrs. Deuker and Englebert seemed to meet with the approval of the other councilmen and the matter was referred to the board to consider. SKIN DISEASE BACILLI KILLED BY WINTERGREEN Liquid Penetrates to the Roots of Distressing Ailments and Gives Quick Cure. Oil of wintergreen that simple liquid so well known to every druggist in the land is just coming to be properly appreciated. Its value long has been known to the medical profession, but onlj- in recent years has it been found that a proper mbiure, combined with other soothing agents, j acts instantly in all cases of Eczema and other skin diseases, stopping immediately that awful itch. t One of the doctors to whom great ! credit is due in developing this dis-' covery is Dr. Decatur D. Dennis, who, I by combining oil of wintergreen in ! proper proportions with several other; remedial agents, devised a LIQUID REMEDY that did away with greasy ointments and old-fashioned stomach remedies. The medical men were prevailed upon to give the general public the benefit of this lotion in the shape of "D. D. D. Prescription," now put up by a Chicago house, the company which makes the famous D. D. D. skin soap. A few drops stop that awful itch, and continued use means a quick cure for eczema, psoriasis, salt rheum, ringworm, dandruff and all other distressing diseases of the skin. Get a bottle of D. D. D. Prescription today, and stop that itch AT ONCE. For sale by all druggists. The oldest man in Bavaria is Peter Huter, of Hashcim. Ho was 102 years old on February l'. KING CHARLES AND QUEEN ELIZABETH OF ROUMANIA, WHOSE PEASANTS ARE IN REVOLT. King Charles and Queen Elizabeth of Roumanla have escaped many of the ills that beset crowned heads, but the recent revolt of peasants in their domains has placed them, it is believed, in a perilous position. They have been closely guarded in their palace. Deeds of violence on the royal estates have been committed during the uprising. Queen Elizabeth is much better known outside of her own country than the king because of her literary work. She is noted as Carmen Sylva, a graceful poet.

He said that in consideration of this act of generosity he thought the circus management should be exempted from paying .its license ! fee, which would amount to $30. He explained that this amount would be turned over to the Y. M. C. A. together with a share of the receipts. Mr. Wettig's motion was carried by a uuanimous vote. . - A petition was presented for an arc light at the intersection of South Twenty-third and A streets. It .was referred to the board. STEERS AND HOGS GOOD.
CAMBRIDGE CITY CIRCUS MAN HAS ACCOMPLISHED WONDERS WITH THESE BRUTES MULE MAUD MAKES FUN. Minus the red lemonade, toys, balloons, humorless clowns and several other objectionable features that generally attend a circus, Richmond has in her midst an attraction that is well worth seeing. Ed Holder's trained animal circus which opened at the coliseum Monday night, has many features. to recommend it. and especially is it oMnterest on account of the fact that most of the animals used were trained at Cambridge City in the sale barns of John Lackey. Mr. Holder has dogs, horses, and a goat that do most everything other like animals have been doing for years, and hogs and cattle which are trained in a manner which quite excels anything ever seen in this city. Common grunting hogs are put through maneuvers in a manner which tends to demonstrate that they have more than ordinary brute intelligence, while eight large steers go through . a military drill in medal winning style. The beauty about all of the acts put on by Mr. Holder's animals is that the actors apparently do their stunts with pleasure and not reluctance. Many Splendid Acts. The diving dog, the dog that loops the loop, the Angora goat which walks the tight rope, the hugh jumping horses, the jumping dogs and the splendid riding horse act are all worthy of special comment. The ponies with their bareback dog riders contributed their share of enjoyment to the evening's event, but their efforts were over shadowed by the antics of "Maud" the mule, not vastly dissimilar from that of Chicago-American fame. . The little brown representative of contrariness in its worst form, bucked, kicked and snorted, every time an attempt was made to gain access to her back. The colored boy who stated that he would ride her for $1.00 had to be very elusive to prevent "Maud" placing her foot in his vest pockfct, with no little force.. The audience screamed and howled as long as "Maud" held the center of the lime light. The City in Brief. Butterick's Patterns, Morris & Co'. Rev. J. O.
