A HEAVY SNOW FRIDAY.

i During the past week the weather was much, more disagreeable than some of the weather during the months of January and February. Oa Tuesday about six-tenths of an inch of snow fell, melting almost as rapidly as it fell. On Friday there was an extremely heavy snow fall, 2.5 inches being recorded. Weatherman Vossler at the government station which is located at the water works pumping station, furnishes the following interesting figures: I High. Low.

At this season of the year, is especially desirable. New house furnishings and new clothing are sure to be needed, and, with cash, you can get much better bargains when you are ready to buy. Again, perhaps sickness or some other misfortune, during the winter, has caused you to get behind -with your grocery, coal and other bills, and you see no prospect of being able to meet them promptly. Good credit is your best asset, and to keep it YOU MUST MEET THESE BILLS PROMPTLY. How can you do this, you may ask. The solution is very simple. Come to us and we will loan you enough money to supply all your needs at a rate which we absolutely guarantee is far below that ever offered by any similar concern in the city, none excepted. Just think of it, on the smallest yearly loan that we will you WE GUARANTEE TO SAVE YOU ENOUGH TO BUY ONE HUNDRED POUNDS OF FLOUR. Would this mean anything to you? Then Investigate the truth of the statement for yourself. We loan money in sums to suit the borrower, on Household Goods, Pianos, Teams, Live Stock and all other personal property, without removal, giving you such time as you may need and making your payments, which will be weekly, monthly or such as may suit you best, so small that you can easily meet them. We have a great many weekly payment plans, on some of which 40c is a Weekly payment on a $25 Loan. 80c is a Weekly payment on a $50 Loan. $1.60 is a Weekly payment on a $100 Loan. and on atl othr amounts in like proportion. Don't you think it would be much easier for you to borrow from us on this kind of payments and pay all your bills, thus owing but ONE PLACE, than to try to pay a little r. SEVERAL PLACES each week? Consider the matter and you will see that it will not only be more satisfactory to both yourself and your creditors, but will also INSURE YOU GOOD CREDIT IN THE FUTURE. Remember, we give you all inducements and advantages of other loan concerns, in addition to offering you longer time, easier payments, less publicity, less delay in getting your money and lower tates than can be had of the others. Call and investigate our metnods, when in need of money. If you do you will never go elsewhere, for you will find that to deal with us does really mean "money in your pocket." Letter or phone applications receive our prompt attention. Courteous treatment, absolute secrecy and satisfactory dealings assured.

The pitiful condition of John H. Thorman, a well known resident of this city, who is now hopelessly insane, made a deep impression on the commissioners, when they visited the jail Saturday afternoon. Mr. Wiley stated that he had been informed that the unfortunate matt could not be admitted to the Easthaven insane hospital for at least two years. The commissioners regret very much that Thorman must be confined at the county jail during all this time, but they state that there is no other alternative. '"What the county shall do with its insane is already a very grave question," said Mr. Wiley, "and one that will have to be solved shortly. The insane hospitals throughout the state are crowded. I am told, and it is difficult to secure the admittence of patients to these institutions. Pending the admission of patients who cannot be kept at their homes, it is necessary to confine them in the county jail, which is a most unsatisfactory place. "I think the county some time in the near future, will have to provide a place of safe keeping for these unfortunates. They cannot be kept at the county infirmary as their screams and actions would annoy the inmates many of whom are old and in ill health' Besides Thorman there are four other insane men confined at" the county

jail, and some times their yells make

the place a perfect badlam. Thorman has absolutely no control over himself and requires almost constant attention.
