EVERY READER of the Palladium and Sun-Telegram man, woman or child is privileged to receive one of these gifts. This is no reckless desire to throw money away, but it is intended to accomplish two well formed plans. The first is to make you talk and think about THE PALLADIUM and SUN-TELEGRAM, and thereby advertise the paper among your friends. The second object is to induce the readers of THE PALLADIUM and SUN-TELEGRAM, young and old, to begin at once to practice those habits of thrift, of saving, of forethought and of economy which certainly and surely lead to independence and prosperity. Remember, we do not prate of our indebtedness to the people of Richmond and vicinity and tell you in one breath that the bank and 50 cents are free and in the next breath tell you that they are free, providing you subscribe to the paper for six months or a year, as as fhe Item did. When we make you a present we don't make it to you bound down by all sorts of restrictions. Our banks are free. Help us prove if by coming to the Palladium and Sun-Telegram cilice arid get one of them. You will see we are sincere in the way we give gifts

Come to the Palladium and Sun-Telegram office and register your name and address. The little nickel bank will be presented to you, and with It an order or check on the well known Richmond Trust Co. for 50c. All that you have to do is to promise to begin to save your nickels and dimes by placing them in the little bank. The key to fhe little bank is kept at fhe bank on whom your order is drawn. When your little bank is full you take it to the cashier of the bank and he unlocks if and opens an account with you, giving you credit for all that you have saved, and for the fifty cents which THE PALLADIUM and SUN-TELEGRAM has given you in addition. When you have a dollar in the little pocket bank you will get credit with the big bank for $1.50.
The power of money cannot be overestimated. Money and the lack of money divides the world into two classes - the thrifty and the extravagant; those who have saved and those who have spent. The first step towards freedom and independence is economy. The starting point towards economy is the first nickel, dime or dollar that is saved. It is a law of nature that the man who wastes his money will always be dependent upon the man who saves. The Palladium and SunTelegram wants to start thousands of people on the Royal Road. Everybody can have a bank who is willing to try to begin the year by saving.
