Marion, Ind., April 0. Marion and Kokomo fought a battle royal last night and it was only after minutes of over time play that Mansfield made the winning goal for the locals. The final score was 3 to . . . The Kokomo players were the most aggressive in the overtime period, but the remarkable performance of Bannon at goal prevented them from
scoring. Mansfield finally carried l
the ball down the floor and scored on a drive from an angle. The crowd was the largest and most enthusiastic of the season. The attendance was Improved, being 1,200.

committee will not recommend the
passage of the ordinance as it now stands, as there are some provisions
of minor Importance in the measure which have brought forth objections
from the local butchers. Generally is Satisfactory.
On the whole the ordinance is satis: factory to the ordinance committee and to the butchers. When the ordinance in its revised form is presented to council Monday evening of next

If the plans of the trolley baseball league managers, who met at Indianapolis Sunday materializes a new minor league will be formed in this
state, including Richmond, Ft. Wayne, Lafayette, Muncie, Anderson and some other towns of like standing which
are not in a league at the present
time. The league if it goes through will owe its origin to Clarence Jessup the local baseball manager. Manager Jessup by buying out Manager Iluckins of Dayton, secured his franchise in the recently formed trolley league which had originally intended to play Sunday ball. Jessup attended a meeting of the managers in the league at Indianapolis, Sunday and suggested that it might be possible to form a minor league playing week day ball as well as Sunday games. Some of the managers were a little reluctant about trying the week day proposition. A sort of compromise between the Sunday and week day plans was suggested in the nature of a Saturday and Sunday league. The last named plan and Jessup's project to establish a new minor league are being considered by the various managers interested and a decision will be reached at a future meeting to be held soon. The sporting editor of the Indianapolis Star is the moving spirit in the baseball league agitation and this means plenty of publicity for the enterprise. Manager Jessup is hopeful
of a strong league of some kind being formed. 7

out of several thousand. I'm in earnest and . I am already laying plans for the trip." A number of people have called up to ask about the contest. This is what is desired by the paper. Jf anyone interested in the contest does not fully understand how it is conducted the Palladium and Sun-Telegram will try to make it plain to them. If desired a representative of the paper will call on any person who anticipates entering the contest. It should be understood at the start that the paper is playing no favorites. No one connected with the paper is eligible to enter the contest and no matter what the relationship between a candidate and any member of the force it shall not enter in this race. The ballots are counted each day at noon and thrown into a large barrel, there to rest till the final count is made by a committee of representative citizens. Surprises may be expected in a few days. The contest is young, but every indication points to activity, right along. THE PRIZE AT STAKE. A free trip to the Jamestown exposition for six persons. Every item of expense going and coming and for a week at the fair will be paid by the Palladium and Sun. Telegram. The successful candidates will be housed at the Inside Inn, the best hotel at the exposition and will be taken into every exhibit and concession on the grounds not to say anything of the water trips and other amusements afforded about historic old Norfolk, which will be enjoyed at this paper's expense. The trip to be taken by a single fair goer, along the plans laid down by this paper for its six winners would cost at the very least $100:00. It is certainly worth working for. HOW VOTING WILL BE CONDUCTED. The contest is free for all. Everybody can vote without the expenditure of a single penny. Each day a coupon will appear in the Palladium and Sun Telegram. Fill in the coupon today as a starter, with the name of the person and employment. Hagerston, Ind., April 9. The funeral of Mrs. Monroe Sherry, who wa3 killed by lightning Sunday afternoon, has been postnoned until Wednesday at two o'clock. The services will
be held at the Christian church, with interment at West Lawn. Mrs. Lulu Scott, the daughter, who was with Mrs. Sherry when the bolt struck, and who was believed at the time to have been but slightly injured, really suffeied greater harm than was supposed. Her hearing, which was totally debtroyed for a time, has returned, but her nervous system is; badly impaired and it is feared lier
complete recovery will take a considerable time. Aside from the hair being slightly burned on one side of her head, there is slight mark of the track of the bolt hat caused the death of Mrs.' Sherry. To little -marks, no larg?r
