four local Methodist, congregations will have bean closed up preparatory to the annual conference which ill be held at Logansport, beginning on April 1. The First, Grace and Third churches have held their final quarterly conferences, so that only the Fifth street church remains to close its year's business. All local congrega tions will be able to send good reports to the conference. people, prove a matter of great interest at this time. Extent of Territory. The North Indiana conference comprises all the territory in the northeast quarter of the state and is divided into six districts, the Ft. Wayne, Goshen, Logansport, Muncie, Richmond and Wabash. Each district is under the supervision of a presiding elder. . The conference is comprised of 266 active ministers and twentyeight probationers, making a total of 294. In addition to this there are 212 local preachers. One hundred and thirty-three preachers of the conference have died since the conference was organized sixty-four years ago, There are now fifty-four widows of preachers belonging to the North Indiana M. E. conference. Value of Property. There are 495 churches, valued at 2,C59,600. There are 8,483 probationers and 57,691 members in full connection within the bounds of this con-

"BUG MAN" IS EXPECTED. W. J. Phillips Will Continue His Experiments at the Ratliff Farm During the Summer.

W. J. Phillips, the "bag man," who last summer conducted a series of experiments on iie farm of Walter S. Ratliff, west of the city, is expected in the city at any time. He will again take up his work of experimenting on several species of insects, which are playing havoc with various kinds of grasses and grains. His experiments will continue during the entire summer.
