Harvard Honors Teddy Jr. Cambridge. Mass., March 21. Theodore Roosevelt.-Jr.. was appointed second assistant manager of the Harvard University crew. The appointment was made from a list of a dozen candidates who have been competing for the place since October by activity in securing subscriptions for the crew and doing other work 'for the management. If the usual order of succession is followed Roosevelt probably will be assistant manager next year and manager in his senior year.

Reynolds will make a report to President McGowan as to the result of his meeting with the city officials and the question now is, will Mr. McGowan hold the "same opinion concerning the Twenty-third street route as Mr. Reynolds does? If Mr. McGowan does line up with his general manager the settlement of the traction question seems to be a thing of the dim future. However, hope is held out that Mr. McGowan will submit to the route demanded as all the shippers in the city have assured the board that they are ready to back it in the demand made on the company Friday night. Fort Wayne Contemplates Erection of Very Complete One.

Ft. Wayne, Ind., March 23 Some

ten or eleven years ago Ft. Wayne decided that it was spending too much

money for municipal electric lighting

purposes. There was a prolonged

agitation of the subject and early in 1S9S a sinking fund was established

with the object of some day building

a municipal lighting plant. That day seems to be at hand. Already the Board of Public Works has the public

check book open and is ready to begin drawing on a fund of $15S,000 for

the erection and equipment of what it

is claimed will be one of the most

complete plants in the country.

SECURE CHICAGO DEPOT.

TRAINS WILL RUN ONTO THE TRACKS OF THE WISCONSIN CENTRAL BRADFORD TO BUY ANOTHER ROAD.

It was given out from an authentic source today that the C. C. & L. will establish through service between Cincinnati and Chicago, April 7. Lake Front depot will be used at Chicago so that direct connection may be made with the Wisconsin Central of which road, Mr. Bradford is also president. A number of different dates have been set for the opening of ihe service but the latest date is believed to be the correct one as with it comes the announcement of a Chicago depot. Along with the announcement of through service today comes a dispatch from Milwaukee to the effect that President Bradford is contemplating further railroad purchases. The dispatch reads: "Milwaukee, Wis., March 23. It is believed that the Wisconsin Central and Cincinnati. Chicago and Louisville will purchase the Illinois, Indiana and Minnesota Railroad, which is trying to get an entrance into Milwaukee. "President Bradford and the board of directors of the Wisconsin Central were in Rockford yesterday in a special train made up of five private cars. "The party came from the north ov
