Bad Stomach Makes Bad Blood.
Vou can not make sweet butter In a foul, unclean chnrn. The stomach serves as a churn In which to agitate, work up and disintegrate our food as it is being digested. If it be weak, t-luggish ana foul the res alt will be torpid, sluggish liver and bad, impure blood. The ingredients of Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery are jut such as best serve to correct and cure all such derangements. It is made up without a drop of alcohol in Its composition: chemically pure, triple-refined glycerine being used instead of the commonly employed alcohol. Now this glycerine Is of itseff a valuable medicine, instead of a deleterious agent like alcohol, especially in the cure of weak stomach, dyapepsia and the various forms of indigestion. Prof. Finley Kllfngwood, M. 1).. of Bennett Medical College, Chicago, says of it: In dyspepi It serve an excellent purpose. It U one of the bent manufactured product of the present time in Its action upon enferblel, disordered stomachs; especially if thre 1 ulceration or catarrhal ra.strtU (catarrhal inflammat ion of stomach), it it a rnokt efficient preparation. Glycerine will reliere many cases of pyrosis (heartburn) and excessive gastric acidity. It is ueful in rhronlc intestinal dyspepsia, especially the flatulent variety, and in certain forms of chronic constipation, stimulating the secretory and excretory functions of the intestinal gland" When combined, in Jast the right proportions, with Golden .Seal root, .Stone root. Black Cherry bark, Queen's root. Bloodroot and Mandrake root, or the extracts of these, as in Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery, there can be no doubt of its f:reat efficacy in the cure of all stomach, iverand intestinal disorders and derangement. There is every reason on the part of the American Stock company, which opened a week's engagement at the Gennett yesterday afternoon, to feel well pleased with the reception accorded. Although it is not the usual thing to give a matinee on Monday, and only a short notice was given that such was the intention, there was a large audience present and at night the business was very big. So well pleased were the patrons that there is little if any doubt that the house will do a big business all week. Tho bill both Monday afternoon and night, was the same, "The Man-o-War's-Man," and the production was most acceptably presented, the acting,, stage setting and costumes, being in keeping. Mr. Thomas B. Alexander, who heads the company, is a native of Richmond, and for that reason special interest is added to the engagement. He has a capable company supporting him. Spec ialties are given between acts by Nan cy Boyer, Ell Fitch and Jack Warburton. The program as arranged for the remainder of the week is as fol lows: Tuesday matinee, "Game of Hearts"; Tuesday night, "Satan's Imp"; Wednesday matinee, "Trinity Chimes"; Wednesday night, "Voice of Nature"; Thursday matinee, "Voice of Nature"; Thursday night, "Jekyll and Hyde"; Friday matinee, to be an nounced: Friday night, "An Unwritten Law"; Saturday matinee, "Satan's Imp": Saturday night, "Mysteries of New York." The greatest of all her modern interpreters upon the American stage is beyond dispute Virginia Harned, who has held the laurels for the past six years as the most illustrious of our Camilles. It is a matter for congratulation that this city is to be one of the favored places of presentation, and this attraction will be the signal event at the Gennett. Blanche Walsh Genne-tt. Blanche Walsh and her new Clyde Fitch drama of New York life will come to the Gennett on next Mcnday evening. The play won the stamp of complete metropolitan approval during its long and successful run at the Astor theatre, when it was generally conceded to be the most talked of dramatic offering along . Broadway. The one scene which was received as a distinct novelty is the whispering scene in Moll O'Hara's room, where for twelve minutes the action is carried along with voices so low that the audience all but refrains from breathing, so that nothing of import to the story be lost to them. Ryan Is of course the favorite because of hla extended experience, but Kelly is a very formidable lad, one with plenty of courage and strength to match Ryan's superior skill and generalship. Kelly Is set on meeting "Philadelphia Jack" O'Brien, and many ieople there are who will wager that the Quaker cannot knock out the Kelly boy or win from him on points. Kelly, in fact, has three or four irons in the fire, and It has been hinted that he would call off the match with Ryan if a match with O'Brien became possible. If Kelly, however, defeats Ryan, O'Brien will have to meet him. The wily Quaker will not then be in a position to say, "Go get a reputation." McKinney's Get Give Promise. For the information of motor cyclists who cling to their mounts during the freezing months it may be stated that trouble with the carburetor, arising from the cold, must be handled with good, practical sense.
