PRESENTS GOOD PROOF waaaaat m SHOWS THAT MEN BEHIND THE MOVEMENT HAVE RESORTED TO PECULIAR METHODS TO FURTHER THEIR INTERESTS.

tPubllshers Pres.l Washington, D.C Dec. 23. Almost coincident with the announcement that President Roosevelt is preparing a special message to congress in advocacy of the ship subsidy bill comes the charge from President Gompers of the American Federation of Labor, that the promoters of ship subsidy legislation form a corrupt "gang" and that they have been guilty of forgery, deception and bribery. In making this declaration In the current issue of the American Federationist. Gompers presents documents from EjT. Flynn, general organizer of na, u., to provo tnat a man the Rockefeller buildings in leveland. coducted the operations resulted in the sending out to or ganized labor of a letter In the name of the Marine trades council of New York, endorsing the pending measure and invoking influence to secure its passage. A Corrupt Gang. 'In all our country, continues Gom pers, "there is not a more corrupt gang than the well known coterie who are engaged in the sjheme to pro mote JBhip subsidy legislation. It is tneir business to conduct news bu reaus so that every ingenius argument wbjch can be invented may reach the public to create a public sentiment in favor of the scheme; its iniquitous features, iniquitous not only as to subsidy itself, but also to hide the ef forts to establish by false pretense the un-American proposition of conscription in the navy service as a condition precedent to employment of privately owned vessels; trying to buy men in their regular business; nothing is too mean or contemptible for the 'promoters' to stoop to if it only seems to give their scheme the appearances of success." It is Bos suets statement of the Catholic faith It has softened the hearts of other and may yours. Now, adieu!" De Catinat passed out through another door, and as he did so he glanced back. The lady had her back to him, and her hand was raised to the mantel- ! piece. At the instant that he looked she moved her neck, and he could see what she was doing. She was pushing back the long hand of the clock, ' Captaiu de Catinat had hardly vanished through the one door before the other was thrown open by Mile. "My poor little dark room has already cast a shadow i over you." "Xay; It is Father la Chaise and the bishop of Meaux, who have been after me all day like two hounds on a stag, with talk of my duty and my position and my sins, with judgment and hell fire ever at the end of their exhortations." "And what would they have your majesty do?" "Break the promise which I made when I came upon the throne, and which my grandfather made before me. They wish' me to recall the edict of Nantes, and drive the Huguenots from the kingdom. You would not have me do it, madame?" "Not if it is to be a grief to your majesty. Bethink you, sire, that the Almighty can himself incline their hearts to better things if be is so minded, even as mine was inclined. May you not leave it in his hands?" "On my word." said Louis, brightening, "it, is well put. I shall see if Father la Chaise can find an answer to that. It is hard to be threatened with eternal flames because one will not ruin one's kingdom." "Why should you think of such things, sire?" said the lady in her rich, soothing voice. "What have you to fear, yon who have been the first son of the church?" "You think that I am safe, then? But I have erred and erred deeply. You have yourself said as much. "But that is all over. sire. Who Is there who is without stain? You have turned away from temptation. Surely, then, you have earned your forgiveness." "I would that the queen were living once more. ITINERARY IS ARRANGED.

THE TRAIN WILL BE RUN BY PENNSYLVANIA COMPANY AND GOOD LECTURERS WILL ACCOMPANY IT. Wayne county farmers will be interested in the visit to Richmond in the near future of the Indiana Seed Corn Special. The train will be run over the entire Pennsylvania mileage in Indiana, made public today, the corn wizards will visit 165 Indiana towns and villages between Febniary 25 and March 13. This is the greatest task of this character ever assumed in any state, the longest trip ever scheduled in Iowa, where so much has been accomplished by this method, being but two weeks. "We are going to stir things up during those fifteen days," said Prof. G. I. Christie, of the Purdue' experiment station. M ""We are going to be able to visit all sections of the state and it Is our intention to present in even a more convincing manner than In the past if possible, the gospel of good seed corn and carry home to the growers the great need of more intelligent selection and care. Indiana is waking up to the importance of this matter in a way that is going to tell in a material way in a short time. Three lecturers will be heard at each of the stops. We are preparing some convincing charts and a liberal supply of station literature will be distributed." Big Night Meetings. During the fifteen days that they are out, the corn men will live on the train, the Pennsylvania supplying a dining car, a baggage car and a sleeper. It is the intention to hold large meetings each night. In the party will be Prof. Christie, D. F. Maish, of Frankfort, president of the Indiana Corn Grower's Association; C. B.
