I The West Side Improvement AssoI ! ciation has excellent reason now for

believing that the proposed sewerage system (of TTiat part of West Richmond lying south of West Main street

' from the river to the west corporation line, will be realized next spring.

The Hoard of Works, which the very first suggestion of the improvement, has displayed an inclination to assist the west siders in bringing about the construction of a sewerage system, ordered plans and specifications to be prepared by the city engineer several weeks ago. I,ast evening a committee from the West Side Improvement Association, which was composed of Messrs. Gib'os, Sackett, Heironimus. Cotton Grosvenor Peacock and Matthews met with the Hoard of Works to discuss the proposed sewerage system and the result was most gratifying to both' sides. The West Siders realized fully that the Hoard was in sympathy with the needs of that section of the city and the Hoard of Works

were impressed with the desire of the i West Side Improvement Association t to lend its good influence toward the i removal of any opposition on the part j

of any residents of the preliminary procedures. The Hoard explained that in order to carry out the plans proposed it would be rcessary to have several alleys opened and it also would be necessary, probably, to use some private ground. The West Side committee will aid the Hoard by preparing and circulating the petitions for the opening of the alleys in question and also secure the needed permission for the use of private land. Hy this method, if successful, the city will be saved the necessity of bringing condemnation proceeiings and the work will be greatly faciliat-ed.

Hoosier Plant in Course of Construction to be Model Factory Buildings May be Completed by April. '

"The work on the new buildings is moving rapidly, and when completed Richmond will have one of the most complete and up-to-date factory buildings in the state." Such was the remark of W. S. J. Zwick, the superintendent of construction for the new buildings being erected by the Hoosier Drill company on North E street. Roth the contractors. Eouck and Hill, of this city, and th superintendent are in hopes that the several buildings now in course of construction can be completed by April. The scarcity of common labor held back the work to a considerable extent at the start but the present time all the day laborers v?edl are working, although more brick masons could be used. The plans and specifications lor the addition to the factory call for six separate buildings. The woodworkers building will front North E street and will be three stories high containing 11,600 feet of floor space. The remainder of fhe buildings will be one
