Tbe Earlham college authorities have signified their desire to connect the college sewerage system with the proposed new west side system which probably will be built next spring. Tomorrow President Kelly and members of the college board Will meet with the Ikard of Works at the city hall to talk over the matter. Engineer Fred Charles is at work now on plans for the proposed system but they will not be completed for some time. It has not been definitely determined whether a filtration plant will be put in or not, but it likely will be done. Engineer Charles said yesterday that the proposition to install filtration plant for the entire sewerage system of the city was a thing for the future, not for the present. It is regarded as extremely likely that there will be a legislative act at no far distant day which will prohibit the drainage of sewage directly into the streams of the State and if this is done filtration plants will become universal. At the present time the sewage which runs into Whitewater river does not pollute that stream to a dangerous extent. Excepting at times when the river is very low, as

it frequently is in midsummer, the

effect of the sewage is scarcely d

ccrnible.

NIECE MAKES BIG CLAIM

Housekeeper of the Late Father Francis Rudolf, of Connersville, Asks Court to Grant Her Nearly $10,000 for Services.

Henry Walterman, city market master jand inspector of weights and meaatfres, said jesterday that seviy-

complaints had been made to his

department by citizens to the effect

that they were of the " opinion that they had received short weights in coal. Market Master Walterman is arranging to look after a. such complaints which are brought to his attention in time for action. The

es of all coal dealers are subject

inspection by the city officers and

short weights are not likely to be accidental therefore. There is no beliefthat such a practice is perpretratitl by any Richmond dealers, but

s the duty of the city authorities

take cognizance of any complaints

filed and to investigate the same

A dispatch from Connersville says that Miss Louise M. Rudolf, niece of the late Rev. Father Francis Rudolf, well known to Richmond Catholics and pastor of St. Gabriel's church, who died last July, has filed a claim against the estate, calling for $9,135. Miss Rudolf alleges that in May, 1SS0. she was engaged by her uncle as housekeeper, and as the nurse and companion of his aged mother and "she continued in such service for 603 weeks, when the mother of Father Rudolf died. For this service she demands $10 a week. - She was then retained not only as housekeeper, but as assistant by Father Rudolf, and continued in his employ for 736 weeks, until his death. For this service she asks $5 a week. The complaint alleges that Father Rudolf agreed to provide for her during life, and to bequeath to her his estate at time of death, but, instead, she only received $675 in personal property. Her total claim calls for $9,S10, from which the value of the personal property is deducted. Father Rudolf was pastor of the church for twenty-five years.

WATSON SEES PRESIDENT

HE DESIRES TO HAVE A CAUCUS OF INDIANA CONGRESSMEN TO GET UNANIMOUS ACTION ON MEASURE.

A dispatch from Washington last night said: "The Gallinger ship subsidy bill passed by the Senate last winter which is now pending before the House committee on merchant marine ani fisheries, will not be reported to the House. Speaker Cannon has put his feet on it. An effort will now br made by the advocates of subsidy leg islation, to get a compromise bill out of the House committee or an amendment cutting out many of the provis ions of the present bill. "Representative Watson, it developed last evening, had the deciding vote on the present bill. Karly yes terday afternoon, after ho had seen Mr. Grosvenor, chairman of the committee, but before he had seen the Speaker, he gave out an interview saying he was in favor of subsidy legislation and indicated that he would vote to report the pending bill. J.ater, he had a session with the Speaker, and he made it known after that talk that he would not vols to report the pending bill. Watson Sees the President. "This afternoon Mr. Watson saw the President, and as he was leaving the White House he said: I am against the pending bill; decidedly against it. I am, however, in favor of legislation to subsidize South American lines and not to exceed two lines to the Philippines." Representative Watson is trying to get the Indiana delegation to hold a caucus on the subject with the view of unanimous action, but it seemed improbable this afternoon that 1 any such meeting would be held."

PARRY HAS MADE GOOD

Richmond Boy Suits Hamilton as a Polo Player Fred Elmore Gets in a Scrap.

The Hamilton Republican has this to say concerning Parry and Elniore two Richmond boys: "Dudley and Parry, second rush and center respectively, played with the local tram for the first time last night. Roth men showed up in great form and will likely be retained in their riew positions. Elmore and Danford the latter, half back on the Fostoria team, clashed on the East end of the floor, several minutes before the end of the game. McCarthy, for Fostoria, was pushing the ball around the East goal when Danford, easrer to get Elmore out of McCar

thy's way, pushed the Hamilton man'

with considerable force against the wall. Elmore went after the offender and threatened to annihilate him, but the interference of Referee, Peete stopped any inclinations that Elmore might have had along that line."
