CLAIMED THAT BRIDGE TENDER HAD A QUARREL WITH YACHT CAPTAIN JUST BEFORE: THE WRECK OCCURRED.

CHESTER.

Atlantic City, N. J., No v The in

quest into the wreck on the Pennsylvania railroad's electric railway at

the Thoroughfare drawbridge in which

more than 50 persons lost their lives, as resumed by the coroner of At

lantic county. Great Interest is still centered in the investigation. Joseph Dangerfleld, who lives near the scene of the wreck, was fishing on a near by bridge when the wreck occurred. He

6aid that Captain Kessler, of the yacht

Sinbad, for which the draw had been opened a few minutes before the train came alcg had a quarrel with Bridge Tender Stewart over opening of the bridge. Witness said he heard the captain say: "I'll fix the third rail."

Dangereld said he believed Kessler meant he would have Stewart dis

charged for alleged slowness In open

ing the bridge. The witness said that

the ill fated train was traveling over the bridge at a higher rate of speed than that of many other trains that had gone over it. Lloyd Brier, an assistant city electrician, proved an Interesting witness. He said he had been employed on th new electric road during the past summer and several times noticed that the rail which is believed to have caused the wreck stuck. He had driven it down himself several times. He did not know what caused the rail to stick, unless it was because it had not been properly laid.
