15 FOLLOWED BY : BRUTAL ASSAULT (Continued from Page One.)

IT IS SAID THAT THE DAYTON &) WESTERN HAS NO RIGHT TC3 J USE THE COUNTY AND CIT4 THOROUGHFARES.

At the meeting of the Commercial Club Nov. C, the committee whichi was appointed at the last session to-, investigate the question as to whether the D. & W. and Indianapolis and? Eastern traction companies had franchises which allowed them to enter and leave the city will make a report. It is claimed by some that the Dayton and Western traction has no franchise in this city or county, and that its service in Wayne is wholly by j-ourtesy of the Indianapolis and Eastern.

Many think the D. & W. should be

made to pay the city some revenue for the use of the public highways. Those who form the Commercial CI ib are: George Knollenberg, chairman; Elwood Morris and Walter McConaha. The matter of the fast running of the cars on East Main will also receive attention and some steps will probably be taken to stop this practice, which is exceedingly dangerous to those persons crossing the street. Although little has , been said about the condition of the city water, lately, the Club will likely take this affair under its wing for an inv t!gation, according to the statement of one of the officers last night.

Indiana Club at Seattle, Planning for Building at position in -1909.

Wash. Ex.

Before the Alaska-Yukon Pacific exposition opens, in 1909, at. Seattle every resident of the State of Indiana will have his attention called directly to the big fair and to the attractions offered. The publicity committee of the Indiana Club, made up of former residents of that state now living in Seattle, is planning a campaign which is expected to be as farreaching us it is possible to make it. Meanwhile an effort will be made by every member of the organization o bring to bear whatever influence ho can exert on the members of the Indiana legislature, which "meets next January, to secure a liberal approbation for a state building at the exposition. It is the object, of the ?lub to have a state buildiig at the exposition. It is the' objeet of the Hub to have a structure ejected of Jhe grounds which will notonly 1k s credit to Indiana during the progress of the fair, but will standi as a permanent monument to the cotnrnon-

dealings of their boys. I had returned after I had been told to Jveep away solely because Mrs. Wright the old gray haired mother of Charles Wright, had asked me to do so, and I remained at the farm while the funeral cortege was at the grave yard.

j After it returned I was walking J through a little shed with my hands

in my pockets when I was accosted by the two Wright boys. Charles Wright struck me' while I still had my hands in my pocket and later Calvin Wright began to punch me. I saw that I was going to get the worst of the match so I put my hands over my face to protect it. Charles hit me four times on the left side while Calvin hit me three on the right side of the face. I turned and ran to keep them from inflicting any further pun

ishment I intend to file three char

ges against the Wright boys Monday and have engaged an attorney to fight my case, which I have every fea

son to believe I can win. The whole affair started two years ago when I
