Stratton and Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Leeds. 4f Mrs. Judson Rupe entertained the members of a card club last evening at dinner, The guests were Messrs ao-fl Mesdames Judson Rupe, Walter Hutton, Prank Watt, Samuel Caar, Albert Reid, Frank Reid, J. A. Greenstreet, Geo. Seidell, E. RBeatty and J. S. Zoller. Miss Ruby Hunt entertained at dinner last evening in honor of her house guests. The table decorations were American beauty roses and Sprengine. At each plate was red shaded candles. After the dinner the guests formed a dancing party at dancing school. In the company were Misses Bess Bosler, ; Norah Ileson, Fredricka Faulkner of Connersville, Lucy Hardy of Indianapolis, Nina Pennell, Juliet Swayne, Messrs Orville Comer, Frank Harold, Ernest Hill, Omer Whelan, Erman Smith,
Harry Jay and Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Houghton. A number of playmates and little friends of Miss Rosanna Wallace formed a party and pleasantly surprised her Thursday night. Music and games afforded the amusements

their home last night on North 17th street, by the members of the Merry
Time Whist Club. The husbands of

wives and a merry time was enjoyed by all. The prizes were won by Mr. George Scott and Mrs. Edgar Haseltine. The woman's consolation prize

Boston, Oct., o. Ex-Governor John L. Bates was chairman of the Republican state convention, which met
here for the nomination of candidates,
to be voted for at the November election. An incident of the work of or
ganization was a demonstration given
Attorney General Moody when he
arose to move the appointment of the committee on resolutions. The plat
form reported and adopted indorses
the administration of President Roosevelt and Gov. Guild and declares adherence to the policy of protection,
the tariff to be revised when the in
terests of the country require it, and
urges that representation in congress be reduced in states where there ia
a suppression of the vote.
The convention, by acclamation,
renominated the following state officers: Governor, Curtis Guild, jr.; Lieutenant Governor, Eben S. Draper; Secretary of State, William M. Olin; Auditor, Henry E. Turner.
