Publishers Press i Indianapolis, Aug. 21 Receipts, hogs, 7,000, cattle, 1,300 and 750 sheep, against 7,63 hogs, 1,574 cattle and 263 sheep a week ago, and 4,364 hogs, 1,366 sheep and 631 cattle a year ago. Receipts of hogs were smaller than they have been heretofore this week, and, with all buyers in the field and good demand from both local and outside sources, trade was active at prices slightly lower than yesterday's average. The decline was due principally to outside Influences, but. the market was one of the most satisfactory to sellers for several days. Demand was fully equal to the supply. Sales ranged from $6.23 to $6.35, and the bulk of the supply sold at $6.25g 6.33. Cattle Market Was Good. There was little change in the cattle situation, compared with yesterday. Receipts were comparatively small arid the percentage of good stock was considerably below reqiiire ments. The market opened with a good general demand for cattle that had quality and fat. These sold promptly at strong prices compared with 3'esterday 10515c higher than earlier in the week. The market for common to medium grades was no Letter, and a number of grass-fed cattle were unsold. There was a steady market for good stockers and feeders. Bulls were steady; calves strong to 25c higher.
