INDIANAPOLIS MARKETS Publishers Pressl Indianapolis, Ind., Aug. 29. ReJceipts, 9,000 hogs, 1,400 cattle and 630 sheep, against 10,300 hor;s, 2.04J cattle and 1,161 sheep a week ago, and 7,542 hogs, 1,578 cattle and 474 sheep a year ago. The situation in the hog market was considerably different from yesterday from the fact that there was an active outlet for the supply at slightly lower prices. At the start packers were indifferent, but shippers were liberal buyers at reasonable prices. Salesmen transferred most of their consignments. When packers discovered that there were few hogs not sold they changed their tactics and came into the field, but had to pay strong to 5c higher prices than paid by shippers. Not Much Change for Cattle. There was not much change in the cattle market, as compared with yesterday. The supply of good to choice kinds was small and buyers paid strong prices for that class, but common to medium grades were weak to lower. Good kinds were soon sold, but it required practically all day to transfer the less desirable grades. Bulls were steady and the calf market opened at about steady prices, but closed lower. Steady for Sheep. Receipts of sheep and lambs were just about large enough to accommo date the normal requirements or bu ers and with a steady demand both Crom local and outside sources trading was fairly active and prices in all departments made a steady average compared with yesterday.
