With all the peaches that are worth buying coming from Illinois, high prices are still maintained. It was thought last week that the first of this week would bring larger supplies of peaches. Michigan stock being about due. There are, however, only a few peaches to be had. Pears are coming in more freely: and prices have declined somewhat.' Demand for both pears and peaches has been good. Apples are more plentiful than last week.

Market opened with all buvers in the field and a fair demand. Trade was active at prices strong to 5c higher than Sat urday. There was a fair Monday run of cattle, but the variety was not complete. Demand for cattle that had weisrht. aualitv and finish was good and they sold strong, compared with the close of last week. Demand for other grades, however, was no better and they sold slowly at barely steady prices. There was about the usual Monday run of sheep and lambs, and, with a steady demand, the supply sold promptly at steady prices. MODE Embroideries and braidings are widely in vogue, aud the designs grow more and more elaborate. Colored silk gloves seem to have lost their prestige, tan, white and black seeming to find more favor. The colored linens which cxe much In vogue show embroideries picked out with seven or eight shades of silk of the gown color. Those who follow the French fashions closely are having their early fail costumes made with basques, the waist line being just as high up as it is possible to make it. Exquisite frocks are fashioned out of handkerchief linen, which may be had so fine as to resemble batiste and .is more satisfactory except for the most elaborate occasions, as it has more body and therefore does not become so easily crushed.
