f Putdiflit-rs Press! Indianapolis, Aug. 10. Receipts ::,.",Hi) hogs, 1.100 cattle and 550 sheep, against 11,704 hogs, 1,:41 cattle and 475 sheep a week ago. and 7.1: hogs 1,11s cattle and 170 sheep a year ago. Receipts of hogs were comparatively small. On account of continued small receipts, the tendency has been toward ahiiihrr level and with a further advance of 5fl'r; the market is now at ::oc higher than the close of last wek. packers evidently realized that there is a poor prospect for liberal receipts and honvht. more freely than heretofore this wek. There was also a fair demand from shippers and a prompt clearance was made. Cattle Steady to Strong. There was a small run of cattle, but what was lacking in quantity was to some extent made up in quality. Among the offerings were better cattle than have he. n heretofore this season and in a ueneral way quality and conditions were good. The mar kel opened at strong prices lor prime heaw steers and h t cows and heif ers. Steers that were lacking in qualitv weight or fat, met witli rather a poor demand and were more or less diflieult to sell at barel steady prices. Sheep Held Steady. The supply of sheep and lambs was average, and .with just about enough to encourage competition from buyers there was an active market. Prices were strong to higher. In extreme cases there was no advance but a considerable larger supply sold around top figures. A prompt clear ance was made and the close steady. was STEERS Good t" cIiol'Hs Bteer.
