Publishers Press Indianapolis, Aug. 7. Receipts ,1,200 cattle and 300 sheep, against 7,518 hogs, 1,534 cattle and 403 sheep a week ago, and 5,744 hogs, 1,533 cattle and 46 sheep a year ago. At the opening the supply was not liberal, and with a fair inquiry from outside sources prices were steady, compared with yesterday. Packers and shippers bought together. Occasional sales of big, heavy hogs were a trifle lower, but there were not enough of these to affect the general average. Cattle Generally Steady. There was a supply of cattle, and with steady demand for steers of good quality, weight and fat for good to choice cows and heifers, prices held steady. Occasionally cows and heifers sold 10c higher. There was a continued slow demand for steers just below top kinds as well as for light butcher steers, which brought barely steady prices. There was no more than a fair market for less desirable females.
