THURSDAY, AUGUST 2, 1906. JUST ONE REASON, PLEASE. And after all the ranting that the Democratic press throughout Indiana has been doing about the chances of Democratic success this next fall and "why Republicans should be turned down and refused even a look in" wo should like to see some bright Indiana Democratic just give one logical reason as to why his party has the suspicion of a right to receive recognition at the polls next November. Generalities may bo indulged and the Democratic press declare that "It Is time for a change," but is there, now honestly, any act of the Republican party In Indiana or the Nation that merits pushing It out of power? And while the Democratic press is roasting the Republicans generally, declaring them to be irresponsible as a party, they are forgetting that Indiana Is a Republican state and that if she shifts her position and lands into the Democratic column it must be by Republican votes. The Democratic party Is lacking in numbers as well as In political wisdom this year. Of course every Republican who bolts his ticket and helps the Democratic party will be warmly received into the ranks of which Thomas Taggart is captain in Indiana. Not much. If Taggart can get your vote for hla ticket. Mr. Republican, well and good, but ho is through with you then. A LIVE COAL PICKED UP. When Mr. Bryan wrote that letter to Mr. Roger Sullivan of Illinois, asking him to resign as a member of the National Democratic committee, he picked up a live coal. The way Mr. Sullivan flays . Mr. Bryan indicates that If thcro Is to be any harmony in Bryan's next campaign, it will not emanate from the Sullivan camp. Simply another evidence that Bryan's boom started too early and that American politics can't be directed from the other side of the Atlantic When Bryan returns to America he will find things rather ruffled, a condition he could not discern while being feted and dined by the British nollty.
