Ed Bunger finally has finished the deep well on Mr. Horner's place, the Kuth farm on the National Road, on which he has been at work for the past three months or more says the New Paris Mirror. The well was sunk to the depth of 2S0 feet, but the only water found, which was not thought to be sufficient, was sat the deDth of 154 feet. After reaching the extreme depth mentioned above, it was decided to go no further and by the use of dynamite the casing was blown open at the 154 foot point to admit the water found thre. which, it is now believed, will make a reasonably good well. Between sixty and seventy, dollars' worth of coal was used In running the machinery to make the well.

POSTPONE HEARING
OF Cleveland Executive to Get a Hearing July 31 for Contempt of oCurt. HE DEFENDS HIS ACTION SAYS THAT THE CLEVELAND ELECTRIC COMPANY WAS INTENDING TO. VIOLATE ORDER OF CITY COUNCIL. - " Publishers' PressJ Cleveland, O., July 26. Mayor Tom L. Johnson, and W. J. Sprlngborne, director of public service, appeared before Judge Ford in common pleas court to answer to the charge of contempt filed against them by the officials of the Cleveland Electric Railway company. It was alleged that they were In contempt because they failed to obey an Injunction issued by the court, restraining them from tearing up the track of the' Cleveland Electric Railway in Fulton stre.et. The courtroom was packed to the suffocation point. Motions were made t quash the injunction, and the contempt proceedings, and after 1 hearing arguments, Judge Ford decided that the whole matter should be postponed until on Tuesday, July 31, in order to have the merits of the question brought out.The court held that the mayor should have observed the injunction, when it was served, and ordered that any further work in that street cease forthwith. The attorneys for the city promised that the court's order would be obeyed. Track laying was begun in Fulton street by the Municipal Traction company. Mayor Johnson, in a formal statement, defends his own action and that of his subordinates .in tearing away the tracks of the Cleveland Electric railway on Fulton street. He says in part: "On June 11 the city council, by resolution, ordered the railway company to remove its single track on Fulton street and directed the board of public service to move the tracks unless the company complied within 30 days. That was six weeks ago, and the order has been utterly ignored by the company. The railway has been violating the law all this time and has shown no inclination to obey the city's order,' which was a perfectly reasonable and usual one." Court Routine. Clement W.
