Great Crowds Expected to View the Wonders Which Will Be Provided by the Robinson Carnival Company --Flattering Notices From the Press.
Thf Masks Carnival will open one eek from tomorrow, July 23 and will :oi.Tii.ui- a solid week , on the plaza apposite to the south entrance to Glen Miller park. With pood street car facilities the Carnival has an advantage that other enterprises of this nature in Richmond havo lacked. The committee of Eagles together with the representatives of the Robinson Carnival Company who arc on the ground, are bending e,very effort to make the affair a great success and interest seems to be at high pitch. The Robinson Carnival Company comes to Richmond for its
first visit with high-sounding recommendations and the advance representatives assert that every promise will be lived up to fully. The attractions . aro varied and all of them are strictly moral exhibitions. The Eagles will conduct the Carnival on strict lines and there will be no gambling of any sort permitted, in fact the Robinson Carnival Company never allowing such features. That the great Robinson Amusement Company has been delighting nnd pleasing the people at each place they have exhibited will be admitted as a fixed fact when one reads the short and pithy extracts clipped from Journals of many cities. Birmingham (Ala.) News says: "Bigger, better, more excellent than any show of similar character ever In Birmingham. It was the cleanest series of shows ever here, and was patronized by our best citizens." Era, Penn., adds Its word of praise: "Each of the exhibits is a maze of life, light and action. Every one pleased and delighted. Robinson's Company Is the best that ever came to town." Tho Indianapolis Journal says: "Not a Carnival Company, but THE Carniral Company." Teru, Ind., adds its quota as follows: "Each and every performance was in every respect excellent." From Lexington comes this word of praise: "The shows connected with the Robinson Carnival Company held the interest of the masses from beginning to end In a manner that only the very' best Bhows can do."
THEATERS AND OTHER LOCAL AMUSEMENT FEATURES Good Vaudeville Bills are Promised for Both the Phillips and the Gennett This Week-The Robinson Carnival Company Will Be Here Next Week-Eagles are Putting Forth Every Effort to Make Carnival a Great Success
VAUDEVILLE AT PHILLIPS. It Is expected that the American Newsboys' Quartet will be an especially bright spot in this week's bill at the New Phillips in vaudeville. This quartet comes with the highest recommendations and to begin with, will have the advantage of the fact that vaudeville patrons have a partiality for male quartets. They will close the bill with the exception of the motion pictures. But there will be much else on the program to commend it, to New Phillips patrons, opening with a piano overture by Miss Grace Miller, the faithful house pianist, and followed by Miss Viola Napp, mimic and danseuse and known to the theatrical world as ' the most graceful
dancer;" Quigg and Mack, eccentric talking comedians; Clayton Hufford, illustrated songs; Edward Hays, singing and dancing; Teed and Lazell". who put on a comedy sketch and the Phlloscope showing "Life of a Cowboy," a film that will prove both instructive and amusing. Mr. Hufford, who Is to begin singing the illustrated songs this week, is from Indianapolis and is experienced in this line.

The authorities at Washington have issued some new regulations worth having in mind in regard to persons taking mail out of the postofflce other than their own. As all post masters are liable to make mistakes in getting mall matter in wrong boxes, this new regulation requires people to examine their mail before leaving the office and should they find a piece not addressed to them they must return it at once or be liable to a fine of $200. That it is the fault of the postmaster makes no difference. The too common practice of opening such letters and then writing on the envelope "opened by mistake" and dropping them back into some postoffice won't go any longer.

Fountain City, July 14, (Spl.) Herbert Green, son of John Green, west of town, has been making some great strides in architectural work. He has been in Chicago for the past few years studying architectural work and recently won a prize of $500 and a Traveling Architectural scholarship from the Chicago Architectural club, in which there were a great number of competitors.
