When Sec retary of War Taft arrived "here he was asked if he had any particular word to extend to his friends in Ohio. Twenty-one years ago or In lSsr,, Mr. Binford set out 2,30C catalna trees in an acre and one:hal! of ground, which he savs was the IKorest ground on his farm. The cat alpa did well from that day to this. In 1S93 Mr. Binford let his brother. o Wm. Penn Binford, who lives on an adjoining farm of 240 acres have quite a number of posts to be set or o o o o o his farm. Mr. Penn Binford. not knowne how catalpa posts would last, set out every other post a mulberry post, so ns to be sure of a good fence, as be knew mulberry posts were air right. Now, or thirteen years later the catalpa posts are better and sounder o o o ind holdinc the staple better than mulberry posts. This shows the splendid lasting qualtities o" catalpa posts, because when you beat mulberry you o o are going some. Mr. Binford has also used many of the catalpa posts on his own farm, as he has it well fenced. Many years ago he put out catalpa posts around his garden and they are as good as o o o new. Previous to that two sets of white -oak posts around the garden had rotted out. Mr. Binford now has 1.50 catalpa trees out of the 2,300 he set out on o o his one and ore-half acre of ground. the others having been used or sold, These paid a fairly good profit for o o the use of the one and one-half acres of land. Now Mr. Binford has a beau tiful grove of 15000 trees that are fine. Some of these trees are worth o o as high as $5 each, as they will make a number of fine corner posts, which sell for $1.00 or more each. o The value of the product of the one and one half acres is $2,000. o .Test think that one and one-half o o o ncres of land has for twenty years increasedin value $75 per acre or $50 per acre ach year and required no work. What other land in this coun ty has done so well? Chicago, July 11. The north walls and about 100 square feet of the roof of the barns of the Union Traction company at Racine and Belden eveo o o nues, fell in. Henry Hacker, a conductor was severely Injured, and a number of cars stored in the building were badly damaged.
