HAVE BUT FIVE CLUBS it is Highly Probable that City Lea gue Will be Enlarged to Fill Vacancy There was to have been a meeting of city league baseball managers at the Palladium office last night but as all the managers were not present at one time no action was taken on the matter of taking in another team to restore the league to its original six club formation. It was the opinion of the different managers that no other team should be taken into the league this season. In any event there will be no team in by Saturday to play the Pogue Millers who were to have play ed at East Haven. May Live 100 Years. LEAGUE ESSUP SAYS HE CAN KEEP ALL HIS OLD PLAYERS AND TAKE THE OLD TEAM INTO NEW LEAGUE INTACT. The Marlon News Tribune after printing Tuesday that Marion would not get to see league ball any more this season, yesterday gave space to the following story: 'Marion has a berth in the K. I. T. League and Captain Clarence Jessup of the Interstate team, will, own the franchise and manage the team, which will probably make its debut into the K. I. T. Lejague next Sunday, location undecided. "Such was the announcement made last evening, after the team had been disbanded and part of them had left for other points. Captain Jessup, who was to have gone to Danville with five of his players, .was notified yes terday that they needed but two of them in the Illinois town and he wired back that he would not come unless the other men could be used, as they had promised to stand by him. He heard nothing more from this wire and late last evening he got a telephone call from President Gosnell, of Vincennes, from Cairo, Ills where there has been some trouble with the financial end -of the game. Gosnell told Jessup that he could have the franchise, without question and that he would make a trip to Ma rion, arriving here some time Thurs day. He will go Into the matter then and the matter will be closed ud. "After talking with Gosnell. Cantain Jessup took the matter up with W. A. Dugan and the latter perfected the arrangements for Jessup and the team to get the uniforms and other paraphernalia belonging to the team and then the financial end of the mat ter was taken up with Sol All man. M. B. Edmiston and the other local business men. They agreed to see to it that the forfeit money, amounting to $400, is posted, so that there need be no question of the city getting the franchise.
